Yvette
"Ma I'm home !" I yelled out
"Yvette it's 9:00 on a school night! where have you been?"
"I was at the library. I had an work on a world religion project."
She rolled her eyes. 'For your sake that better have been what you doing."
I made my way to my room and dropped my bag on the floor. Damn, that was close. I didn't know what to tell my mother. We never really talked about boys or anything. Just to tell her I was hanging out with one seemed uncomfortable. I just didn't know how she'd react.
I had a nice time with Amari though. I was glad the high wore off before I got home. I have no idea how I would've explained that one. I felt so different around him. More free, and relaxed. I didn't have to be the perfect daughter or the level headed friend. I could just be Yvette.
For the rest of the night he was the only thing on my mind. I wanted to spend more time with him. There was still so much I wanted to know.
Amari
As soon as I walked into class Yvette waved and me a big ol' smile.
"What's up Yvette?"
"Nothing. So um, what are you doing after school today?"
I laughed. "What do you have in mind?"
"Let's go for a walk. I know a really nice spot."
"Alright, I'm down."
The rest of the day went by pretty quickly. I sold a few more grams, now I was left with 9. I made friends with one nigga named Xavier, X for short. He also worked for Rocky, but he was much higher up on the ladder than me. X had been working for Rocky since freshman year, and was one of his most trusted guys. He wasn't a part of the main crew Rocky ran with, but X had gained his loyalty when he saved his life in a shoot out. I already knew Rocky stressed loyality, but the more I heard about him from X, the more I realized it was also a weakness. This nigga assumes everyone has his loyalty when they could turn on him any second. That was his first mistake.
After school I met Yvette at her locker to go for our walk. This girl had me doing some sappy shit but I didn't mind. As long as I got to spend time with her I didn't care. She took me to some valley near the school. It had a long trail for people to walk on. I actually looked really nice. The leaves on the trees were different colours since it was fall and there was a nice cool breeze.
"I'm not one to go on walks but this is nice." I told her.
"I'm glad you like it. This is where I like to go to think and clear my mind."
"I see why you like it."
"Um, Amari, are you doing anything this weekend?"
Yvette
"Um, Amari, are you doing anything this weekend?" I asked him nervously.
Aaliyah, Chanel and Kiara were all busy this weekend and the only other person I could take with me to New York this week was my mom. It's a weekend getaway, therefore I want to get away from my parents too. I figured I'd ask Amari. I know it was sudden, but it was worth a shot.
"Nothing I know of, why?"
"Well, my parents got me two tickets to go New York for the weekend, and I know we just started hanging out and all, but all my girls are busy and I really don't want to go with my mom. Would you maybe want to go with me?"
"New York?! Yeah, I'm down."
"Really?! That's great." I hugged him.
"Are your parents going to be okay with you going with me though?"
"Well, maybe I'll just leave that part out. I'll tell them I'm going with one of my girls."
"I don't want you lying though. What if they find out?"
"They won't. Trust me. They'd never think I'd do something like that."
"You're their lil angel, huh?"
"I suppose you could say that."
He laughed. "Alright, well if you say we're safe then I'm down for it."
"Don't worry, we're going to have an amazing weekend!"
Amari going with Yvette to New York? Should be interesting.
