When we walked into the hotel, my jaw dropped. It was gorgeous! A glass chandelier hung from the ceiling illuminating the smooth black floor tiles. The sitting area had a big screen TV and plush red sofas. People sat around talking and drinking coffees from the drink bar. They were all visibly wealthy by the way they dressed.

We walked over to the reception desk which had a nice marble top.

"How may I help you?" The woman said batting her lashes at Amari.

I rolled my eyes. Was the bitch really making eyes at my man while I was clearly standing beside him?

"I have the penthouse suite booked. I also made a few other requests. My name is Amari Jackson."

"Here's your key. The room is ready for you along with everything else you asked for." She said in a seductive voice.

I stepped in front of Amari and took the key from her.

"Thank you." I said sarcastically.

I heard Aaliyah's giggle as we left the front desk and walked to the elevator. She knew how I felt about other girls talking to Amari. Their tricks were played out and I wasn't going to let them try to entertain him.

"You excited?" Amari asked clearing the air.

'Yes! Look at this place! I can only imagine what the penthouse look like."

"You guys definitely picked a nice place." Aaliyah said looking around.

We got into the elevator and Amari scanned the card the receptionist had given us. Amari stepped behind me and covered my eyes with his hands. I felt my stomach twist and turn with excitement as we got closer to the top floor. I felt the elevator stop and there was a ring to indicate our floor. The door opened and I felt Amari's lips on my ear.

"Happy birthday ma."

He moved his hands from my eyes revealing the suite. It was filled with people. My friends and family as well as Amari's boys from the organization were all there.

"Happy birthday Yvette!" Everyone yelled.

Aaliyah, Amari and X attacked me with a big hug. I couldn't believe that this was party. They had all done an amazing job setting everything up and making sure everyone was here.

The lights were dimmed with only a few bright ones placed where the DJ was set up. There were tables filled with food and drinks of all kinds and I couldn't wait to indulge. Everyone around me was talking, dancing, laughing and having a good time. All the positive energy in the room had me feeling even better. I slowly made my way through the crowd of guests taking the time to greet and thank everyone who came. Amari and X joined the other guys, leaving Aaliyah and I to socialize.

"Hey girl! Happy birthday!" I heard a familiar voice yell.

I turned around to see it was my cousin Vee.

After my parents died, I became closer to my cousins, Vee being one of them. Though the truth about their death had to be covered up, everyone was supportive and there for me in the years after. Since I was an only child, it was nice to have my cousins around to still give me that family feeling I lost when my parents were killed.

"Thanks Vee. You look gorgeous!" I complimented her.

Vee had her hair in a short bob that was curled at shoulder length. Her two piece outfit flattered her fit body and her make up brought out her best features.

"I got you something cute, I hope you like it; that is, if you're spoiled ass can find it." She said pointing to a table filled with pretty boxes and bags.
