Amari
"Sorry I'm late, couldn't find the classroom." I said.
"And you are?" the teacher asked.
"Amari Jackson. I'm new."
"Alright well please take a seat Mr.Jackson, I'm Mr Johnson."
I nodded. I scanned the classroom for avaliable seats. One was beside some fat chick with poetic justice braids and the other beside a pretty chick with her long hair tied up in a bun. It was an obvious choice. As you know, my name is Amari Jackson. I had just moved to Los Angeles from Chicago. I'm 5'11 with a caramel complexion. My hair had grown out nicely so I had it done in cornrows. My mother and I moved out to L.A. to get away from her abusive boyfriend Tony. Just the thought of that nigga had me feeling like I could kill a mothafucka. Back in Chicago, I was one of the most notorious drug dealers on the block. Not bad for being only 16, right? It's not the life that I wanted for myself, or my mom, but we needed money and her grocery store job just wasn't cutting it. Once I had saved up enough, I told her we were leaving. Even after everything Tony put her through, my mom was still hesitant to leave. After what happened the night before we left, there was no turning back. So here we are now.
The rest of the morning went by pretty slow. My classes were boring as fuck. I didn't have time for this shit. I needed to find out who the top cats were in this school and get myself back into my work. I knew I was going to have to start at the bottom, doing easy jobs like selling kush and making deliveries, but I didn't care. For now I was living in the WestBrooke projects, but I wanted to move my mom out to the rich side. I wanted to give her everything she ever wanted. I eavesdropped on a couple conversation during lunch and figured out I was going to have to find a nigga by the name of Rocky. He was the one calling the shots and running shit. Not for long I thought to myself.
I asked around trying to dig up as much information as I could. From what I got, this nigga wasn't one to play around with. Rocky was all about his money. He was running one of the most sophisticated operations anyone had ever come across. He was dating some chick named Angel since they were in middle school and they had a daughter. He and his crew hung around the north side of the school campus. It wasn't a lot of information, but I could work with it. Clearly this nigga was one who stressed on loyalty. No one knew much about him and he kept it that way.
Tomorrow I would approach him and make my move. I knew I was going to have to gain his trust before he let me anywhere near his operation and I was fine with that. I would do whatever he required me to do and I would prove myself to him. In a couple of months I was going to be running these streets, and in due time, I'd be the king of L.A.
