Yvette

Today was the day that Amari had planned to raid the warehouse of the other crew that had been messing with our business over the previous months. He wanted me to be apart of it, but not involved with actual raid. I was supposed to stay with X in the car and be on watch. We had planned to move right at midnight, so until then, I had the day to do as I pleased. Amari was at the safehouse plotting with the other guys, so he dropped me off at Aaliyah's condo so I could finally catch up with her. Amari gave me a whole lecture on the way here about being careful about what I tell Aaliyah, and although she's my friend, I hadn't seen her in months and she may not react well to me telling her what's been going on. I understood where he was coming from, but Aaliyah's been my girl from the time we were little kids. I trusted that she'd be there for me no matter what the situation was.

As I stood in the elevator, a weird feeling went through my body. I hadn't been to this complex since the night I found my parents dead. I got off on the 23rd floor and walked down the hall to Aaliyah's door. Before I could even knock the door flew open as she attacked me with a big bear hug.

"Yvette! Girl where the fuck have you been?!" She screamed.

"Damn, how did you know I was here? I didn't even knock the door yet." I laughed.

"I been listening for the elevator for the last half an hour girl. I missed you! Sit your ass down right now and tell me where the hell you've been for the last two months."

We walked into her room and plopped down onto the white plush sofa she had.

"It's a long story, and I'm not sure how you'll react to it all." I told her.

"Girl try me. I know Amari is part of your whole story so it should definately be something. There's been a lot of stories going around school involving you, him and Rocky. It's like the three of you disappeared all at the same time." She explained.

"Damn... Well, it's like this." I began to say.

I started from the beginning, telling Aaliyah about Amari's plan to take over Rocky's organization, and him asking me to work alongside with him. I went on to tell her about my first kill, my parents getting killed, and Amari killing Rocky and Tony. It took awhile to explain the history and connection Amari and Rocky had with Tony, but once I did Aaliyah understood why things turned out the way they did. I finished off by telling her about moving in with Amari, losing my virginity, and the current situation that would be going down today.

"Jesus Christ Yvette... I'm so sorry about your family." Aaliyah said.

"Thank you. It's been hard. but I'm making it. Amari and his mom have been there for me and as much as it hurts I know their in a better place."

We continued talking for the next few hours. Aaliyah caught me up on everything I had missed with her, Kiara and Chanel and I told her more about Amari and I. Although I hadn't seen her in months, it felt good to speak to my best friend again and I was glad we were able to pick up where we left off. For the most part Aaliyah was understanding about everything, but she was still shocked that I had gotten involved in the exact things our parents had worked so hard to keep us out of.

The day flew by and before I knew it, it was 11:30pm. As if he had read my mind from miles away, Amari texted me saying he was on his way to pick me up and to be downstairs in five minutes.

"So now you have to go do that whole raid thing?" Aaliyah said raising her eyebrow.

"Yeah, I'm not really apart of it though. It's dangerous so Amari has be on lookout with our friend X." I told her.

"Do what you have to do, but please be safe Yvette." She sighed.

"I will, and I promise not to be M.I.A. anymore. Text me, call me, I'll answer. Now that you know what's up I want things to go back to normal. Well, as normal as it can be." I reassured her.
