He's Awake

I wake up in a cushioned chair by a window. My nose crinkles as I register the smells of the hospital. Standing up, I slowly walk over to Kaoru's bedside. I place my hand on his and sigh. This is all my fault. If I had payed attention to that noise he wouldn't have had to push me out of the way. My grip tightens as a single tear falls from my face onto Kaoru's chest. I'm about to break down when I feel my hand being squeezed. I look up to see Kaoru smiling at me.

"Hey." He half whispers. I let out a little squeaky noise and surprise him with a huge hug. He inhales sharply.

"Ow! Broken ribs, remember?" He tells me. I grimace and immediately release him.

"Sorry." I apologize. When I lean back and look at him there's a look in his eyes like he wants to tell me something. I raise an eyebrow, making him sigh.

"So, yeah. I have something to tell you. Well, ask you actually." He explains. I lean in, waiting for him to ask me something super important.

"Yes?" I ask. He looks up to me, pain in his eyes.

"Can you get me more Morphine?"
