Quiet Notes

I crack up for the fifth time in the past two minutes as Kaoru strums out the wrong chord on my acoustic guitar. 

"It's no use, I'll never get it right," Kaoru tells me for the umpteenth time. I put my hand on his and move his finger to the correct position. 

"You'll get it. You just need time," I gently tell him. He smiles at me. It's been about a year since we first started dating, and there's never been a dull moment between us. Well, maybe when he was unconscious in the hospital, but other than that...

"You okay?" Kaoru ask, jerking me back to the present. I smile.

"Yeah, just thinking about how fast you'll become the next pop star when you learn guitar," I say, jokingly.  He laughs at my comment and hands me the guitar.

"Here, you play something." I take the guitar in my hands and start playing the first song that comes to mind.

"Nobody ever knows, nobody ever sees. I left my soul back there, now I'm too weak." Kaoru closes his eyes, drinking in the words I sing.

"Now please don't do. Most nights I hardly sleep when I'm alone. Now please don't go, oh no. I think of you whenever I'm alone, so please don't go..." As I strum the last chord, Kaoru wraps me up in a sweet hug. He lean over and whispers in my ear.

"I'll never leave you..."
