Park Scare

I sit on a bench in the park, reading. The wind blows the water in the lakes and flower petals fall from the trees. It's all very poetic. Then someone grabs the book from out of my hands, completely ruining the moment. I look up and immediately shrink back. An evil grins spreads across the face of my ex. The one that was completely obsessed with me.

"What do you want?" I ask tersely.

"I want my girl back." He tells me creepily.

"Too bad, it's not going to happen. Please give me my book back and go away." I tell him. He just shakes his head and puts his hand on my leg. I try to kick him, but he moves back in time to avoid it. He then grabs my wrist, causing me to cry out in pain. He pulls me close to him and I try to free myself to no avail.

"Hey!" I hear a familiar voice shout. I sigh in relief and turn to see Kaoru running towards me. My ex snorts in disgust.

"What do you want?"

"Leave her alone." Kaoru hisses. My ex half laughs and pushes me away. He then cracks his knuckles and turns towards Kaoru, ready for a fight. Before he can do anything Kaoru straight out punches him in the face. Hard. My ex steps back, looking shocked.

"Fine. But I'll be back." He then turns and walks away. Kaoru immediately turns to me, completely wrecked with worry.

"Are you okay?!" His concern makes me smile for a brief moment, but it doesn't last long. He picks up my book and hands it to me.

"Thanks...Will you sing to me?" I whisper. He sits down next to me on the bench and puts his arm around me.

"You're the sky that I fell through. And I remember the view whenever I'm holding you. Chills run down my spine as our fingers entwine and your sighs harmonize with mine. Unmistakably I can still feel your heart beat fast when you dance with me." He sings softly in my ear. The words calm me down and wrap me in a comforting hug.

"Circle me and the needle moves gracefully back and forth. If my heart was a compass, you'd be north. Risk it all, 'cause I'll catch you if you fall. Wherever you go if my heart was a house, you'd be home..."
