Chapter 53: Sonoma Raceway

Kennedy's POV

*Saturday*

Today was the K&N Series race and Chase was racing in it. He also got the pole for this race which is awesome!

"Good luck Babe, go kick some butt like you always do. Show them how good of a racer you are" I say and hug him.

"Thanks Darlin. I love you" he smiles and pecks my lips.

"I love you too" I smile back and go over to the pit box.

"I appreciate it fellas," Chase tells the NAPA Racing team. "Thanks for all of your hard work."

We're green again in Sonoma!

We are under a full-course caution again at Sonoma. Chase is racing in P2.
Chase comes to the green in his NAPA Racing Chevrolet. P2.

As Chase comes through turn seven, he takes the lead in his NAPA Racing Chevrolet!

Lap 10:
Chase extends his lead to approximately three car lengths.

52 laps remain in today's race. There will be a competition caution at Lap 32 for a fuel-only stop.

Lap 14:
"I think you know what you've got here," Eddie tells Chase. "You're in a good place here, you can ride."

Lap 15:
"I'm going to let those guys do their thing," Chase reports. "That's the right thing to do," Eddie replies.

Lap 21:
Chase is quiet on the radio. His NAPA Racing team gave him a few pointers to get through the left- and right-hand turns. P4.

La 30:
"You're doing the right thing," Eddie tells Chase. Four laps until the competition caution. P4.

The No. 24 NAPA Racing Chevrolet is stopped on pit road awaiting a fuel-only stop. The break will last 5 minutes.

Lap 45:
The NAPA Racing team tells Chase they are doing some repair work on the wall before going green. P3.

16 laps remain as we take the green. "Get a good launch," Eddie tells Chase. P3.

And Chase is your leader!

The NAPA Racing team leads with two laps remaining.

CHASE WINS AT SONOMA!!!

"YES!" I say climbing down and watch him do his burn out. Once we started heading back to Victory lane, I also make my way there.

He climbs out and waves his checkered flag around. He hops down and gets an interview in. Once he was done I run over and kiss him,

"From the pole to victory lane. You're awesome!" I say and hug him tightly.

"Thank you" he chuckles.

"Let's try and do something like this tomorrow, okay?"

"We'll try" he laughs and it was time for him to be presented his trophy so I stand back and smile at how amazing he is.

I'm one lucky woman.

*Sunday*

It was almost time before the race and Chase and I were just leaning against his car talking with his crew.

"Uh oh, here comes trouble" I tell Chase.

"Here's Chase Elliott and Kennedy Kahne! Looking beautiful today like always Miss Kennedy!" Michael Waltrip says coming over with his FS1 microphone.

"Thank you Michael!"

I was wearing a white romper with blue polka dots all over it with a pair of white keds. My hair was curly and up in a ponytail and I had my usual amount of makeup on.
