THE NEXT ADVENTURE: Chapter 20

After getting back to the treehouse, I entered eagerly. No one was in the main room but I heard laughing from Peter's room and peeked inside. Peter's head lifted from his bed and his eyes found me. The laughing stopped and Wendy turned to look at me. She had been sitting in front of Peter. "Oh, Robin. You're back awful quickly."
"Too quickly," Peter mumbled. I wanted to roll my eyes. "Wendy and I were just playing a game," he added.
"It's the fog around the main island. I've decided to wait till it lifts," I lied feeling slightly guilty. Peter eyed me like he knew I was uncomfortable.
"When might that be, Robin, do you know?" Wendy asked. I took my eyes from Peter's and looked at her.
"Maybe tonight," I said. Peter suddenly laughed.
"Maybe tomorrow more like it," he said.
"What makes you so sure, Peter?" I asked trying to hide the frustration of his constant taunting towards me.

He suddenly altered his expression, looking slightly embarrassed and uncomfortable...probably not expecting me to confront him and his knowledge that he acted as if he had. "Uh...experience," he said shifting insecurely.

I suffocated a laugh. There was an awkward silence grabbing at Peter's throat, I could see it on his face. "I once roamed Neverland too you know!" Peter suddenly defended himself hopelessly.
"So I've heard," I admitted...because even the silence began to grab at my own throat now. Wendy then tried to brighten.
"Maybe share your experiences with Robin some time, Peter? You sure know Neverland like the back of your hand, right?" She asked Peter.

He blushed and smiled at her just then. "I do know much about the main..." He said weakening and suddenly slipping into a dreadfully awkward daze towards her. Though Wendy didn't seem like she minded at all. In fact, if she were anything right now, it'd be in a daze herself...towards Peter.

God, they were into each other terribly. I wanted to get out just then...go on an adventure maybe. Adventuring has always been better then anything to me really since I've been in Neverland but here comes Wendy changing that. I leaned against the door frame of Peter's room and almost rolled out with my eyes when Wendy suddenly spoke up...but not to me, of coarse. "I thought so..." she said completely giving in to the girl in her.

Peter just smiled at her looking down her face. He then looked at me. "Some time, but not now," he said. I faked a smile as he looked back at Wendy. She was biting her bottom lip with a cute little smile and looking still at him.
"It would be an honor," I said trying to sound perfectly fine. Peter ignored my compliment completely and just waved me out of the room without taking his eyes off of Wendy.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm a filthy brute..." he said smiling. I was suddenly confused.
"I didn't call you a beast--" Lifting my hands to limit myself and spare myself from being here any longer, I just left the room. I then stopped when I heard Peter say something to Wendy.
"Say...Wendy, did I ever tell you how much I loved your hair?" My stomach sank. I rolled my eyes.
"You arn't the only one," I mumbled to myself like an envious little boy and left the treehouse.

I rushed around the trees following the little voices of the lost boys. When it came to the point I felt I no longer needed to search, there was a silence and then the sudden spliting noise of some tree leaves caught my ear. Quickly looking to side the noise came from, I witnessed an arrow coming at me wildly. Gasping, I ducked as it struck the tree next to me. "Oh! You've got it!"

Coming to a stand in confusion at the familiar boy-like voice, I saw Birdie and Woodie escape out of the trees the arrow came shooting from. Birdie ran to me, a coon hat resting on his small head with a hand-made crossbow in his hand. "Robin! Robin! Woodie's teaching me how to shoot a bow and arrow--second best next to you, of coarse--"
"Hey," Woodie said offended.
"Say, Robin, was it good? Do I need to aim better?!" Birdie eagerly rushed the questions at me. Even though my head almost got shot off, I knew just a simple shaking of the head could break his little bird-like spirit, and decided to smile and give him a thumbs up. His blue eyes shimmered then of pure happiness and his face beamed.
