"Who the hell is he?!" I holler.
"Calm down. It's none of your buisiness, he's just a guy I know."
"Just a guy you know that may be having your freaking children?!"
"I'm not having children."
"It sure frickin seems like you are! How come you didn't tell me!"
"Maybe it's because I haven't seen you in hmm.. maybe four years!"
"I'm going to go get a coffee. Whatever." I retort, grab my purse, and walk out the front door.
I'll go see if Dan wants to come.
"Dan... What room is he in?" I ask myself, trying to remember what he told me earlier this morning.
"Room... 24, 25? No it's not twenty five. 26, 27... 28! That's what it is. Room 28." I smile, as I hop in the elevator.
***********************
"Hey." I smile, as he opens up the front door.
"Adara, what's up?" Dan asks.
"I'm just pretty irritated. Sadie." I humph.
"I've been there." He nods.
"Well- I was just about to head out for a coffee, maybe you'd wanna come with?" I blush.
"I'd love to... Adara Wolfe." He chuckles, as we walk out of the lobby together.
********************
"What happened today? You seemed pissed." Dan looks at me in concern.
"Sadie... Well Sadie's just being Sadie. She's not done anything but keep secrets from me. It's pulling the last straw. We were best friends- all the way back from 8th grade. Then she met Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn Rosemary. She just silenced me. Turned her back, and left. Kaitlyn and her were tight ever since then, and it was only until last year when she reached back in touch with me. It's like I can be her friend when she's not good enough for anyone else. Kaitlyn and Sadie are still best friends, and well, me. I'm just there. I feel like I don't belong with them, but it's time I reach out and try something new." I spill.
"Little Fewments." He shakes his head.
"Fewments? Wtf is a fewment?" I ask, confused.
"Did I really just say that? God- I'm such a dork." Dan laughs, burying his head in his hands.
"You're not the only freak around here!" I giggle, pointing to myself.
"Don't call yourself that." He gets really serious.
"Why not?" I wonder.
"Because you're not a freak, you're far from it." He smiles.
"Stop lyinggg..." I hold, sarcastically.
"Never." He laughs, and crosses his arms over his chest.
This boy really isn't all that bad. He's actually pretty amazing, if I must say so myself.
"So... Tell me about yourself. I need to know a little more about you besides your last name!" He laughs, as we enter the Starbucks.
"Well, All my friends call me Addie, but my sister and Sadie have always had this hate thing against nicknames, so Adara is what I hear most of the time." I shrug.
"Oh. I've lived on my own, with my best mate Talen, ever since I was eighteen. My parents gave me up at sixteen, and I guess I thought I wasn't in the mood to move in with any 'Foster Families', so I simply moved out, and that was that. I flew to Manchester to start all over, and that's where I met Talen. The rest, I guess, is history." He smiles, looking down at his decaf coffee.
"He seems like a nice guy." I grin, taking a sip out of my frappe.
"He is. I could totally picture your guys' babies."
"Slow down, boy! I never even met the kid!" I laugh.
"That's the point. Distant love is the best kind of love." He winks.
"That's like saying I'm going to be taking your last name tomorrow morning."
"You are. God Addie! Why did you forget about us?!" He holds in a laugh.
"I'm sorry Dan. Take me back! I promise I'll be the best wife you'll ever have!" I plead, dramatic sarcasm pouring from my mouth.
We can't hold it in, anymore. We both crack up laughing, and then I forgot. I had coffee in my mouth.
"Cr-rr-wap-!" I stumble through my words, trying to hint at Dan that there was something wrong.
"Oh my God Addie! What's wrong?"
"C-h-Ch-Choked." I make out my words, barely... Just barely.
"Need any help?" He asks, moving to my side of the booth, and sits to my right.
"I- I think I'm fine. We better get going though... The wicked witch of room 14 is probably waiting for me." I sigh.
"Yeah, I guess we should. But- let's do this again sometime." Dan flashes me a quick smile, and he hurries out the door.
That damn smile.
