Chapter 10: No Pain, No Gain

"Mom, What's happening?" Asked Lena shaking as her mother removed the needle.

"I think you found another superpower where you can't be hurt." Said her mom.

"So I can't witness pain?" Asked Lena less shaky.

"You can witness emotional pain but you can't witness physical pain and nothing physical will hurt you, but the thing is," Started her mom hesitantly. "I don't think any quote superhero has ever had that superpower in history."

Lenas mouth dropped open with excitement and confusion.

"Mom I think the oven is on fire!" Yelled Toby up the stairs as their mom ran down to see a pile of smoke coming from the oven.

Lena grabbed the fire extinguisher and blasted it at the oven and the smoke went away.

Their mom opened the oven to see the burnt casserole she made for dinner.

"Any ideas for dinner?" Asked Toby with a shrug and a fake smile.

Lena rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.

After the situation cleaned up...

"Ok, I ordered some pizza and it should be here any minute." Said their mom hanging up the phone.

The pizza came about ten minutes later but it was still warm, sort of. They still ate it and they also watched a movie.

After the movie and dinner they went to bed...

Bye Allie, have a good time in England. Lena told Allie with telepathy.

What? Oh, yeah, see you next week. Replied Allie and they went to bed.

At school...

"Hey, do you know where Allie is I need to talk to her about a project?" Asked Atlas giving Lena a kiss on the foreheads.

"She went to England, remember, we talked about this at lunch?" Replied Lena.

"Oh, oh right, I'll just ask her when she comes back." Said Atlas walking away.

"Wait, maybe I can help." Suggested Lena.

"Sorry but I really need Allie for this." Said Atlas.

"Why can't I help!" Lena gasped. "Are you cheating on me with Allie?"

"No, no, no, ok I need Allie to help me with your suprise party." Said Atlas quietly.

"I am so sorry, I totally ruined the suprise, can you ever forgive me?" Said Lena hugging Atlas.

"Wait," Said Lena pulling away. "My birthday isn't for another 6 months."

"It wasn't for your birthday, it was to celebrate your powers." Said Atlas with a sigh.

Lena immediately hugged him again.

At lunch...

"Hey, cutie pie." Said Atlas giving Lena a kiss on the lips.

"Ooo, nicknames, Me likey." Said Lena kissing him back.

"I was thinking I would take you out to lunch today, sound good?" Asked Atlas pulling Lena up to him.

"Sure." Replied Lena as they went to Atlas' new 2014 red dodge challenger.

At the restaurant (Chick-fil-a)...

"Thank you so much babe, this is delicious." Said Lena taking a bite out of her sandwich.

"It's only chick-fil-a." Said Atlas picking at his fruit.

"I know but everything is always better when I'm with you." Said Lena shooting him a smile.

Atlas smiled back but that ended as soon as someone bumped into the table spilling their hot coffee all over Lenas lap.

"Watch were your going lady!" Screamed Atlas at the women who bumped their table.

Atlas got Lena some napkins and she got cleaned up easily.

"Hey, I hope your o-" started Atlas noticing that Lena was not burned, scared, anything. " How come nothing happened to you?"

I found my third power where I can't be hurt physically. Lena said using telepathy.

"That makes more sense." Said Atlas finishing his meal.

They quickly finished their meal and went back to school. School was over so Lena went to fashion club.

"Today, you are to work on your project, and since I found that we have Friday off you have to be finished by Thursday afternoon, good luck." Said the teacher.

"Attention all after school programs, we have a flash flood warning so I suggest you all go home." Said the intercom as the sirens outside blasted.

Lena tried to go home, but it was to late, the flood was huge, covering the entire city as tall as a two story building, Lena was slammed by the waves and everything went black.
