"Lena, how was your date last night?" Asked her mom after school.
"At first it was good, we went to the cheesecake factory and then we took a walk to the docks and went on a short swim." Started Lena sitting at the table.
"What's the bad part?" Asked her mom.
"Atlas dared me to swim to the bottom and grab something, so I did and I came up with this pocket watch." Lena said as she pulled out the watch.
Her mom had the same expression as Atlas when she saw the letters.
"Honey, why did you keep this?" Asked her mom.
"Atlas said I should keep it cause it had dads initials on it, is that a problem?" Asked Lena.
"No of course not I was just wondering, so what happened after that?" Asked her mom hesitantly.
"Ok, well after Atlas told me I kind of passed out and sank but Atlas saved me." Said Lena also with hesitation.
"What?! Why didn't you tell me this yesterday?" Screamed her mom.
"I was tired from the long night and I didn't think it was gonna be this big of a deal cause I can breath underwater you know!" Screamed Lena just as loud.
"Ok," Said her mom with a deep breath. "Can you just go up to your room?"
Lena walked up the stairs slowly, but she heard her mom talking on the phone so she listened in.
"Why did you let that happen we are not on that step yet?!" Yelled her mom.
...
"Ok, your right about that but why did you have to drown her?!" Exclaimed her mom a little louder.
...
"If you say so, but if it happens again and you deny it, were gonna have some problems Simon." Yelled her mom with a tense voice, she immediately covered her mouth as soon as he said his name.
...
"Ok I'm sorry, I was really mad but remember, 3rd strike, I'm out." She hung up the phone and took a deep breath.
Lena ran up to her room, her mind pounding with the thought of her father being alive.
"Was it really my dad? Could it have been another Simon? What's the deal with this watch? Why is my life over?" Then it clicked. "Could my own father be the watchover?" Lena started crying just at the thought.
Lena just cried and cried still thinking about the possibility of her father being an evil psychopath that hates time.
"Lena come down for dinner!" Yelled her mom cheerfully up the stairs.
"Ok mom, be there in a minute." Said Lena with a semi sad tone.
"What's wrong?" Asked her mom as Lena came downstairs and she noticed that her eyes had the tiniest bit of red in them.
"Oh nothing, just thinking about dad and how much YOUR A LIAR!" Lena started deep into her mother's eyes.
"THAT IS NO WAY TO TREAT YOUR MOTHER LIKE THAT!" Yelled her mom doing the same as Lena. "Besides, I don't even know what you are talking about."
"You know EXACTLY what I'm talking about and I know that you know what I'm taking about cause you are a horrible liar." Lena said with a slightly less violent tone but with more anger stepping towards her mother.
"Fine, you want the truth here it is," Started her mom sitting down. "Your adopted."
"Lies." Said Lena
"Your not really 17." Continued her mother.
"Lies lies lies." Said Lena.
"Fine, just give me 2 minutes, Toby go to your room." Said her mom firmly.
"But-" Toby started.
"NOW!" Yelled their mom as she went to a different room as well.
Lena lent on the table for a few moments until her mom came back.
"What do you know?" Asked her mom sitting down.
"I don't know but I'm almost a thousand percent sure that my father is the watchover." Said Lena sitting down as well.
Her mom sighed. "Yes Lena, your father is alive and he is indeed the watchover."
Lena thought she was going to be happy to find out the truth but she started crying and ran up to her room to hide.
