An Unexpected Love

Chapter 2

Spencer's POV

"Fiancé?" I say in such shock

"Yes" Micah just gives me a big smile

"Micah, what are you doing here, you said you were working late tonight" Cathy says

"I do, but I'm on break and I just wanted to see the love of my life before I go back to work" he says holding her hand

"Who's this?" Micah looks at me and then at Cathy

"This is Spencer, the father of my kids" she says

"The guy who left you at the alter to be with another woman?" Micah asks

"Micah!" she looks sternly at him

"Cathy it's fine, because it's true, and I'm sorry" I say

"And I've forgiven you a long time ago, I'm
just happy that you're back, we should get together sometime to have dinner. To catch up on things" she says with smile

"I would like that very much" returning a smile

"And I would not" Micah just butts in

"Don't listen to him, we can have dinner tonight" she says putting her hand over his mouth

"But Cathy" he muffles through her hand

"No buts, you have many women coworkers and clients that you spend twelve hours a day with 5 days of the week. And I don't say anything about. Well until now but I'm assuring you there is nothing to worry about Micah, now please go back to work before you're late. I will see you tonight. I love you and goodbye" she says as she pushes him out the door

"Spencer, we have to do a security check on before you can come back to work here" Hotch says to me

"Of course, sir" I say

"Well its lunch, let's go on break right now" Penelope says

"As much as I would love to to do that, I have a lot of work to do, but I will see you tonight Spencer." she says as she walks away

So it's just me, Penelope, Morgan, Rossi and Jennifer going out to lunch.

We go to Islands restaurant and take a seat at a table.

"Who's Micah?" I just blurt out

They all laugh hysterically at me.

"What is so funny?" I ask

"They met about two years ago, we were on a case and one of his workers turned out to be a psychopath. Yeah he's a rich handsome business man but also narcissistic, spoiled and annoying" Penelope says

"We don't like him, at all" Jennifer says

"Your own kids don't even like him" Morgan adds

"Really?" I say "How are my kids?" I ask

"Your kids are beautiful Spence" Jennifer says "They're very smart, like you."

I just smile a little inside. After we ate lunch everyone went back to work and I stood around til the end of the day since I have no apartment to go back to and the only place I knew was me and Cathy's house.

I waited outside of Cathy's office, sitting on the floor. She finally came out and she looks down and turns her head slighting and gives me a confused expression and then she simply smiles and laughs and sits right next to me.

"You having fun here?" she asks

"I actually am, the dust and the dirt on the floor gives me company" I say jokingly

"You haven't changed one bit since I left" I say to her

"Well I guess that's a good thing" she says with a smile

"It really is" I say

"You ready to go home or you want to stay with your dust and dirt buddies a little while longer?" she asks

"Nah I've spent enough time with them, let's go home" I say with a smile

We drive home together and barely even talked because Cathy was just talking to Micah and all they did was argue, so I just laid back in my seat and pretended to sleep.

I "woke" up when we finally got home.

"Alice! Thomas! I have someone here to meet you" Cathy practically screams

And i just start to get more and more nervous. What if they don't like me, what if they hate me. What if they hate me more than Micah? I'm a terrible father.

I hear small foot steps running down the stairs. And there they are. My two curly haired beautiful kids. A tear falls down my face and I immediately wipe it away.

"Mommy!" they both say as they excitedly run up to Cathy and tackle her down

"Where's Anita?" Cathy asks

"Shhhhhh, Anita's sleeping" Alice says in a whisper voice

Cathy just laughs and says she'll wake her up later.

"Mommy who's that?" Thomas asks as he points at me

"Alice, Thomas. This is Dr. Spencer Reid, your Dad" she says smiling at me

I get on ground level with them and they both timidly walked towards me. Alice reaches her arm towards mine and puts the palm of her hand on my face and she starts to cry.

"It is daddy" she says hugging me

I hold my little girl in my arms, I hold her tight. I haven't held her since she was a baby and now she's all grown up.

Thomas just looks at me and I look at him.

"Are you really my dad?" Thomas asks

"Yes Thomas I am" I say smiling at him

"Will you play board games with me and read books with me and play sports with me?"he asks in such an innocent voice

"Yes of course I will" I say as I open my other free arm to him

And he runs in and hugs me tightly. I'm holding both my beautiful kids in my arms and everything just feels right.
