My pack was on, and I was ready to head out on the road. In a way, this was my first real mission since I was injured during the Fourth Great Ninja War. Being kidnapped does not count.
Anzu gave me a hug, "Be safe on the road, and good luck with all the Kages."
I ruffled her hair affectionately before placing a kiss on her forehead. "They can't be any worse than the one that I already deal with on a daily basis. Don't cause any trouble, not that you usually do, and I'll see you in eight days."
"How much longer until you leave?"
I glanced at my watch, "It's 6:58 so we should leave in two minutes, but that all depends on when Kakashi decides to show up."
"So little faith," an indigent voice came from behind me.
"Kakashi, you're not just on time, you're two minutes early! Are you sick? Are you actually Kakashi or are you a transformation jutsu?"
He decided, wisely, to ignore that comment. "Goodbye, Anzu."
"Bye, Kakashi. Bye, Kaiyo."
With a wave and a flip, Anzu was dashing off to her daily training while Kakashi and I turned and walked out of the gate.
