As I stumble around, the voice still rings in my head. I can drive even the smartest minds insane. What did it mean? I thought of Chris coming out of the Labyrinth, and Clariesse trying to help him for months. But I wasn't in the labyrinth. In fact, there was pure blackness everywhere I looked. Sometimes a blur would pass by me, and make me feel sad or angry. Though I never knew why. Another blur passed me, except it wasn't a blur. It was a memory.
I was laying down in my bed. The lights were off. I was dreaming. Or having a nightmare. I began to move around a bit. I screamed and woke up in a cold sweat. I cried about spiders. My step-mom came in the room. "Annabeth. You can't keep being afraid. You have to be a big girl." She said. This made me mad. It's not my fault. I was born that way.
I looked at it as it passed me. That night made me so mad. So did she. She had always bugged me. Though she's better now. I have to keep my cool. Another blur came by. Another memory. It was me and Magnus, the last day we saw each other.
Your Lucky you have a mommy. I had said to him. I had always wanted a mommy. I really  had. I had been stacking what, at the time, looked like dominos into a huge castle. Magnus look at in amazement. The parents were fighting down stairs. Magnus and I played happily, trying to ignore them. The shouting stopped. My dad came upstairs. Annabeth we're leaving and never coming back. He said to me with a grim face. I looked back at Magnus with my startling gray eyes. Bye Magnus. I said to him and I left.
I bit back a tear. That was the last time I had seen my cousin and now he was dead or missing. Huh. I sighed into the blackness. Another image came. It was me running away, and killing my first monster.
I snuck out of the house. I didn't leave a note. I didn't care. I had taken a butter knife with me. In case I ran into trouble. Or a spider. My blond hair was tied back into a ponytail. My gray eyes looked around me worried. I ran through the city. By the time I reached Lincoln street, a old lady appeared. Now Honey... it said, shaking a crooked finger at me. I backed away. I attempted to run past her. I'm smart enough to know to stay away from strangers. She grabbed me. Hades thinks you'll have something to do with the prophecy. She said to me. Her bong hands turned into claws. She turned into a big bat lady. I shrieked! I tried to run, but she had a solid grip. Using my free hand I took out the butter knife. I stabbed her with it. Several monsters later, I would loose it. She blew up into powder. I screamed again. And ran. Far away.
I breathed heavily. That was one of the most terrifying moments in my life. Another memory came.
Two pairs of arms grabbed me. I kicked and screamed. No more monsters! I screamed. the two figures were tall. Maybe 13 years old? one was a tall boy with short blond hair. The other was a tall girl, with black hair, and blue and purple dyed strands. "Don't worry." the boy said. "We're not gonna hurt you." They introuduced themselves as Thalia and Luke. Don't worry. Luke said to me. We won't bail on you like our families did us.
More and more memories passed me by. Thalia turning into a tree. Luke betraying me. Holding up the sky. Taking a knife for Percy. Luke dying. Some words stayed in my head. Family Luke. You promised. Annabeth, did you love me? I was crying now. I was on my knees. Where was a good memory? I saw the graves of the fallen during the Titan war. So much pain. So much sorrow. But why?
More memories came through. Percy disappearing. Jason coming out of no where. I saw me going to follow the mark of Athena. I saw Arachne trying to kill me. I saw Percy holding my hand as he held on to the ledge. I saw Nico, who could barely hold us. I saw us falling. I saw Tarturas. All the horrid memories. The empousi. Bob and Damen. Dying before me. Then I saw me collapsing as we got out of the doors of death. I saw us, battling the Giants. When Percy got the nosebleed of doom. Ghea attacking camp half blood. Then I saw Percy leaving me again.
I can drive even the smartest minds insane. The voice taunts me.
Family Luke, you promised.
Annabeth, did you love me?
I scream as I wake up.
