Chapter 21: THE NEXT DAY

I wake up to the sunshine beaming on my face. As I am getting out of bed all I could feel was complete happiness. Even though Jax and I didn't work out I know that he doesn't hate me. And what I do know is that for once after the whole Leo incident we are now at least talking like we once did before.

Elizabeth: "Good morning dad."

Liz's Dad: "Well good morning to you. What is up with the giant smile?"

Elizabeth: "For once I am happy. Is being happy a problem? You know dad if you are not happy you need to do something about it, because once you are happy you should never let whatever makes you happy go."

Liz's Dad: "Ok, since when did you become a phycologist? And besides you says I am not happy."

Elizabeth: "Since when was the last time you ever gone out on a date after mom had past. I know deep down inside you are ready to move on. Besides I think mom would want you to move on and try to find someone who can bring a smile on your face every time you wake up in the mornings."

Liz's Dad: "You really think so?"

Elizabeth: "I know so."

My phone rings and Leo's contact is on my screen. I immediately answered the phone out of pure joy.

Elizabeth: "Hey Leo. What's up?"

Leo: "Could you meet me at the pier? I need to talk to you about something important."

Elizabeth: "Yea sure. I am on my way."

That phone call was making me nervous as I was getting closer to the pier. He didn't sound happy to want to talk to me. Something is obviously wrong.

Reached the pier and just waiting for Leo. Thoughts of what he wants to talk about is just making me go insane. I hope that it's not anything with our conversation from last night. Through every thought my heart beats twice as hard and twice as fast.

Thank goodness I can see Leo in a hoodie with sunglasses walking in my direction.

Elizabeth: "Hi Leo...."

When I reached for a hug instantly I knew something was deeply wrong. The energy Leo carries is very uneasy and brings me bad nerves.

Elizabeth: "Leo... what is wrong? What did you need to talk to me that is so important?"

Leo: "Elizabeth, I don't know how exactly you are going to react to this, so I am just going to come out and say it."

Elizabeth: "Don't wait any longer, you're scaring me."

Leo: "My agent called me last night after the bomb fire. I got casted for a new film."

Elizabeth: "That is Great!.."

Leo: "The film is taking place in Spain. I leave the day right after graduation."

He was right, I don't even know how to react about this myself. I mean I am excited that he got this job, but what does this mean about us. He is leaving in three weeks, we can't start dating again and then he has to take off for ... for....

Elizabeth: "How long will you be?"

Leo: "About 6 to 8 months."

How can I wait 6 to 8 months without being beside him or seeing him. Now I am more frightened then ever. I thought after last night nothing would ever break us apart from being together. I guess I was wrong. Why can't love be so simple?

Leo: "Liz!? Liz?!"

Elizabeth: "Yes."

Leo: "You haven't said a single word since I told you everything. You are kind of scaring me."

Elizabeth: "I am happy that you got casted in a major film, but how can I wait that long to see you. Six to eight months is a long time being apart, how are we ever going to make our relationship work if we are on the opposite side of the world for that amount of time."

Leo: "Wait I was under the impression that we were just friends. And besides I am not asking you to wait for me."

Elizabeth: "Oh, so I guess you wanted to say good-bye then."

Leo: "No! I wanted you to know from me and besides you are the first person I told besides my parents. For the next three weeks all I want from you is nothing but support and all the time we can spend together, just as friends. I would hate to start a relationship right before I leave for a long period of time. It is not fair for me or for you to suffer like that."

Elizabeth: "What I am most of afraid of Leo is that when you are gone I will forget about you. Then when you return all we will have of one another is friends at least memories."

Leo: "We are always and forever will be friends. That is for certain. For the rest of the day let's not think about it and just spend the day together. Ok?"

Elizabeth: "Ok."
