Chapter 31 - The park

We arrived back at Brad’s house, and as we walked through the door I heard a voice shouting Brad’s name.

I stepped to the side of the hallway as Nat bounced down the stairs and greeted us.

“Did you have a good day at school?” She asked me.

“It was good!” I said, smiling at her.

“Do you want anything to eat?” She asked me.

I remembered that I had eaten some brownies before Brad had collected me so I unwillingly turned down the offer.

I heard a pattering sound coming from the kitchen and I craned my neck to see Jesse walking towards us.

I knelt down and stroked her and she tried to lick my face.

I laughed and got up from the floor to stop her, but instead she circled around me, barking occasionally.

“Jesse, calm down.” Brad came over and stroked her head.

“Do you want to take her for a walk?” Nathalie asked us.

Brad looked at me and I nodded in agreement and it was decided that we would take Jesse for a short walk, to the park.

It was the same park that we had gone to when the guys were here, so I knew that it was wasn’t that long away.

Nat grabbed Jesse’s lead and a bag which included a ball and a Frisbee.

We all pulled on our shoes and set off to the park.

They let me hold Jesse’s lead for the first 5 minutes or so which was great fun. She was quite a large and heavy dog though, so I had to be careful that I was gripping on to the lead tightly or else if she saw another dog, for example, and if she jerked forwards or moved with a great force, then she wouldn’t escape from my grasp.

When we got to the road near the park though, Nat took over from me.        

This time, I wasn’t going to nearly get run over, and as we were about to cross, I held Brad’s hand for safety.

We arrived at the park shortly and Nat said that she would play with Jesse if we wanted to sit and relax, seeing as I had had a fun, yet jam packed day.

The weather wasn’t sunny, but it wasn’t cold, so it meant that the grass wasn’t wet.

Brad and I chose a spot near some trees and lay down next to each other on the grass.

He reached for my hand and traced his fingers over my palm.

I smirked and he noticed and said:

“What?”

“Nothing.” I replied, a grin emerging on my face.

He stopped what he was doing and rolled over to face me.

I lay on my back, still, staring up at the sky.

I rolled my head to the side, away from Brad and watched Nat play with Jesse.

She was throwing a ball to her, and then Jesse would retrieve it and bring it back to her for the whole process to start again.

“Umm Emily...” I heard Brad say behind me.

I rolled my head over to the other side, to face him, and looked up into his gorgeous brown eyes.

“Yes?” I said.

“I haven’t really asked you something, and I feel like I should.”

I stared at him, thoroughly confused and waited for him to carry on.
