Chapter 27 - Home

I shared Brad’s earphones with him and we listened to music.

I chose the Arctic Monkeys’ new album.

He got out his song writing book and we doodled on some pages, which was great fun.

The book was A5 and we decided to fill two pages with random drawings.

As we were drawing, I noticed that Sophie was listening to James’ music with him and they were chatting, but I couldn’t tell what they were talking about, because I was listening to music.

Connor also had his earphones in, but he was asleep and Tris, as per usual, was on his phone.

After Brad and I had filled a double page with little pictures, he leant over the table and drew a moustache and a beard on Con with his pen.

I was so surprised that he didn’t wake up, and when Brad was finished, I took a picture of him for instagram.

I looked out of the window, and saw that we were driving into a service station.

Fin parked the van and then him, Joe and Dean jumped out of the front, and came around to open the door.

Joe opened the door and Connor fell out onto him.

He flinched and awoke, extremely dazed, as Joe pushed him back upright into his seat.

We all laughed at Connor, who obviously didn’t realise that we had drawn on him yet, and he stared at us, looking confused.

We all got out the van and headed for Starbucks.

Brad ordered a vanilla latte, and I got a Frappuccino as per usual.

James and Sophie both bought naked juice, and then we went to the toilet, before setting off again.

We got back to the van, and sat down in our seats.

Brad told me that Connor, after going to the bathroom, saw that he had pen on his face, and had rubbed it off, so he had black smudges on his face from where it was.

Connor and James decided to play a car racing game on the xbox in the van.

“Do you want a go Soph?” James asked Sophie.

“Well I may not be very good, but my cousins did have a car racing game on their xbox which I used to play.” She said.

James handed her his controller and she raced against Connor.

I watched the TV, as Brad and I were just listening to his music now, rather than doodling as well, and she was actually surprisingly pretty good.

I asked Connor for his controller and Sophie and I played against each other for a while which was hilarious.

James found a hard track for us, obviously so everyone could laugh at us, and I kept crashing into things, and missing the corners, which was so embarrassing.

Sophie wasn’t much better either, but she took it steady whereas I just accelerated really hard as I wanted to beat her but it didn’t help at all.

We gave the controllers back to Con and James and Sophie and I watched them play.

I soon got bored though, and just looked out of the window whilst still listening to Brad’s music.

We arrived at Sophie’s house and she got out and collected her stuff.

“Shall I walk you to your house?” James said.

“Well it’s only there but okay.” She replied.

“I want to stretch my legs anyway.” He said.

“Thank you so much everyone, for letting me come with you this weekend, it was so much fun.” Sophie said to everyone.

They walked out of the van and up to her house and I watched as they stood in the doorway talking. He hugged her and then came back to the van.

A couple of seconds later, the door opened and her mum greeted her and she walked inside.

I texted Sophie:

“What did James say to you? ;) xxx”

She texted back a couple of minutes later with:

“He just said that he would message me J Speak later on facebook xxx”

I smiled and grinned at James as he came back and sat down.

Joe, who was standing outside and waiting for James, shut the door after him, got into the front again, and we set off.

We arrived at my house and I thanked everyone, collected my things and climbed out of the van.

I noticed that Brad had followed me out.

“Just going to turn the van around.” Shouted Fin, out of the window.

Brad and I walked up the steps to my house, and he was on a step below me as I turned around to face him to say goodbye before I knocked on my door to go inside.

“I really hope that we can meet up soon.” I said to him.

He brought his finger up to my lips and leant in to kiss me.

His warm lips met mine, and he put his arms around my waist and brought me closer to him.

I put my hands in his gorgeous curly hair.

“I’m going to miss you.” He whispered, as I nuzzled into his neck.
