Craig was on the couch. After getting a bowl of cereal, Ruby hopped onto his lap. "Heeeey brother!" She sang out. His eye twitched as a bit of milk spilled onto him.
"What do you want?"
"Thanksgiving's in a couple of days. I just wanted to know if you talked to Benji or Tweek." His face turned red.
"I... I think Benji's staying at one of the lofts at SoDoSoPa." Ruby rolled her eyes.
"Then invite Tweek!" He shook his head.
"He's in Wisconsin with some guy. You don't even know half of the story! Jesus Christ Ruby, get off my back!" She groaned, annoyed, setting her cereal on the coffee table in front of her.
"Craig, I love you. That's why I'm going to say what I'm going to say." Craig faced her with a dull look. "Get a hold of your life you fucking idiot!" she smacked him in the head and he narrowed his eyes at her.
"You're lucky mom and dad are home and that I'm too mature to hit you."
"You hit me yesterday." She pointed out. He flipped her off.
"Did you at least talk to mom and dad?" His expression lightened. He leaned into the couch trying hard to hide his face but Ruby's intense gaze wouldn't let him.
He nodded then let out a tired sigh. "Yeah and all dad said was how proud he was about me coming out, not at all about me going to university and doing well when I almost had to repeat senior year. Then the whole here's a hundred dollars crap." He showed her the bill. "want it?" Before she could grab it he threw it into her cereal.
"Sorry, fingers slipped." She bit her lip trying really hard not to flip him off, she would not fulfill that stereotype, but she mostly tried not doing it because Craig was hiding his face in his arms now, looking down not saying another word.
She tugged on his sleeve, but he wouldn't look up. He siunded defeated as he spoke "Can you maybe leave me alone." She could barely hear him in the muffled voice, and his voice was barely above a whisper, but she nodded and decided to take a walk.
She passed Karen's house with an annoyed sigh. Ruby hated to admit that there was a little jealousy in her for Karen. Karen was sweet, smart, had a loving brother who would do anything and who never flipped her off, and even though this sounded silly, Ruby thought Karen looked a lot prettier. The only thing Ruby thought Karen would ever be jealous of was her money, which probably never even crossed sweet Karen's mind. Now it seemed Karen would even get a boyfriend before Ruby would, and damn was that kid obsessed with her. She smiled softly, remembering how oblivious Karen was, thank God, Ruby wasn't that-
"Watch out!" She snapped back into focus just to see his face inches away from her.
"Hi." He smirked. She turned red.
"Uh, hi."
"Come on, Anderson! Throw the fucking ball!" The yell belonged to the same person who had told Ruby to watch out. Fillmore took a step back lowering his arms to show a football he caught inches away from hitting Ruby in the back of the head.
Fillmore looked back at his football buddies and Ruby hated how annoyed that made her feel. "Hold up!" An annoyed groan escaped the mouth of one of his buddies. Fillmore ignored it and looked at Ruby. "Hey, so are we-"
"I don't know what we are..." She began. He put his hands on her shoulders and opened his mouth to spea, but then his buddies appeared.
Andy, a filthy brunette, stepped into the conversation first with a sleazy smile. Ruby hated it. "So is this her?" He looked at her in the face, his breath touching her uncomfortably, and God, did he reek! He looked at Fillmore. "I don't get it. She ain't that pretty." Her eyes widened for a split second, but she swallowed every thought that came next, and the black-haired jock got a punch in the face from Fillmore.
