Bud woke up with a start, for people were setting fireworks off already. He ran into Rachel and Finn's room and jumped on their bed, quickly ducking under the covers. Neither of his parents woke up, and Bud soon fell back to sleep.
Finn was the first to wake up, having the feeling that he was being kicked. He looked, and sure enough, Bud was in their bed, fast asleep. Slowly he took the boy in his arms and carried him to the living room, so as not to wake Rachel.
When Rachel got up, the three of them headed out to the park after breakfast. "Bud was in our bed this morning." Finn said simply.
Rachel looked shocked. Bud had never done that before. "Why?"
Finn shrugged. "Why'd you come into bed this morning, Bud?" He asked the two-year old.
"Boom boom!" Said Bud in reply.
Both Finn and Rachel looked confused until they remembered that it was the Fourth of July. Fireworks. "Oh, and it was too loud. I gotcha." Rachel said.
Instead of having a party, they decided to just be together as a family. And it was the best decision ever. They hung out at home after the park, and later went swimming. It was the greatest day.
