Rack City and I had just ordered our food and were now sitting at the table having small talk. I knew he was bothered by Chastity because his mood was dull, which wasn't like him. Especially considering this is the first time we've seen each other since I got locked up, I had expected him to be a happier mood.
"What's up with you and Chastity?" I asked to break the short moment of silence. I'm not one to ask about others relationships but he looked like he was itching to talk to someone about it.
"I know she's cheating on me." He said point blank before bringing the cup of coca cola to his mouth to take a few gulps. "I just know it, she's always out with Darnell."
"Darnell? The one she calls her nigga?" He nodded. "You realize Darnell is like twelve, right?" I questioned with a laugh that brewed through my words. Is Rack City really getting worked up over Chastity hanging with a kid? God, I thought my problems with Imani were pointless and stupid but this tops it.
"He's a year younger than her, smartass." And? "I see the way he looks at her when she comes around and she's real comfortable around him. I come up to visit her, yet she spends more time out with him than she is actually spending time with me."
"Nigga, I know you got a jealousy problem but chill out. You're blowin' shit up and I can bet you ten g's that she's not messing with him." I said when my laughter fizzed out.
What I've always found to be funny is that no person goes without a flaw. Some flaws big and some small but every person has at least one. Back when Rack City and I were in school, I used to hear females talk about him in class or whatever but the looks are deceiving because underneath all that, Rack City gets jealous so easily and with that jealously comes a temper and a possessive nature. With someone like Chastity, she doesn't like being told she can't talk to other niggas or hang out with them so I knew their relationship would be good only for so long. His ex however, she put up with it and after two years she must have become accustom to Rack City's jealousy and possessiveness.
A relationship built up from sex doesn't last long and Rack City's figuring that out now, but what do I know? I only know as much as I'm told and what I've experienced.
"What the hell could she be doin' with Darnell late at night and for hours at a time?"
"I bet you they're just smoking or walkin' around the area. Are you the one steppin' out? I know some of the females in your phone wouldn't mind being the side piece for a night or two." I continued to tease which didn't make him too happy. "Lighten up and stop being a bitch, damn."
"I'm not stepping out. Just fuck it." He said clearly frustrated and I was going to keep going a little longer but gave him a break. "What's up with you and Vanity?"
"She mad I left her hanging this morning. She'll live, I'm not worried." I said with a casual shrug of my shoulders. "Where's Urban?"
"Believe it or not, he's been hangin' around Oakland lately. Apparently he wants to get a place there, don't know why but as long as he can sell stuff over there too, who cares."
"We'll call him after we eat, see if he wants to hang out and more importantly establish business again. By the way, don't talk to Symphonic, she's on thin ice again." It would have been nice to come out of jail to find that everything was set up right. Meaning, Nana was happy and healthy at home, Imani had her shit straight, Vanity had her priorities and my business just waiting for me to say the word to pick back up with Symphonic, Rack City, Chastity and Urban ready to go. Instead I come back to find things not in line in which I need to crack a whip to get them back in line.
