"Again." Peggy says as I shoot the gun again for the hundredth time. It hits the middle again and I reload it. Again. "I have a plan."

"A plan for?" I ask confused.

"A plan for getting Steve back. I'm going to Italy."

I forgot that was Steve's next performance. We came to Europe for stationary reasons, and the fact that we were not useful in America. Peggy whether she knew my plan or not has been training me for a battle if I happen to get myself in one. "What! You're not coming with me to base camp?"

"I'm sure Phillips could use a break from me." The horn sounded from the boat and I shot one last time as the bullet flew through the air and directly into the middle of the dummies brain.

"I'll see you in camp then." I say, and salute her as she does it back. "Find Steve."

_______
Phillips, Stark and I have traveled for a few days before we actually have been close. We looked over latest requests and it turns out Johann Schmidt came to me. We pull up on the ground and I grab the map and my bag as I get out of the vehicle. Other men grab my things and I follow them to my tent. Inside a man turns around to face me. Those blue eyes meet mine and his dark hair was messy. His smile was overwhelming instantly.

"Evelyn." I run up and hug him, I hear the other men whisper as they put my things down and leave.

"You were in England the last time I wrote you."

"And you were stationed at a top secret facility, with top secret men, and working on a top secret serum." I smiled and put my finger to his lips.

"Shh. It's top secret." I say, he smiles and puts his lips down on mine. I had forgotten how much I missed him. He was so sweet and every kiss left me wanting more.

"Dr. Kingston! We have work to do." Phillips yells and Bucky begins smiling. He laughs a little and I kiss him quickly and begin to walk out but he grabs my arm.

"You look good in uniform." He says and I grin. I heard his laughs and as I leave. I felt my skin get hot and quickly tried to stop blushing. I had to be professional.

I walk under the tents and Phillip stands looking over battle plans. "Okay so we have the regiment to infiltrate HYDRA tomorrow under the command of James Barnes." My heart sank. All the feeling went away and I felt my body turn white. I just got him back. "There has been speculation that Johann Schmidt and his accomplice Arnim Zola have been there working on the serum we have already tried."

"Okay Dr. Kingston we need you down at the infirmary. There are many wounded soldiers and the nurses there don't have much clue in what they're doing." Phillips says and I nod. We walk into a large tent of people laying in cots and groaning.

"Ladies." I say and they all come closer, "our first step is to sanitize everything." They all ran around grabbing the equipment and other utensils used for surgery and healing. How have they not had an actual Doctor this whole time.

"You're dismissed." I said, after hours and hours of cleaning up wounds, and bandages. The place was immensely cleaner but now I needed to see the actual wounds and determine what to do. We are low on resources as well.

After organizing everything I walked back to my tent. Bucky sat there on my bed with his face in his hands. "What are you doing here?" I ask as I sit next to him. "You should rest, you have a big mission tomorrow." He laughed and turned towards me.

"You can't come." He said, and stood up grabbing my map. He snooped my things. "Evelyn this is a mans job, you don't know how to fight. And this is more dangerous than anything I've ever done. Do you expect to just walk in there and get the information before walking out."

"I've been told my whole life that women can't do anything compared to men. I have trained for the past months and I've done just fine without you. How would you know anyway you haven't been with me."

"Okay. Listen, you can't. For me, please don't go." He gets down on his knees and holds my hand. "Please, all I have thought about is how I haven't been there to protect you."

"You have though." I say and a tear falls from my cheek. I reach inside my shirt and pull out the tags he had given me. "You said to give this back when we saw each other again. You've protected me through so much, even if you weren't there."

"Keep it."

"No, you need it more than I do. I won't go, as long as you come back." I say, and he nods wiping a tear from my eye. "And when you come back and we meet again. I'll take it back." He pulled my head down to kiss my forehead and I wrapped him in my arms. As we stayed on the floor.

___________

The light shown through the plastic windows in the tent. I opened my eyes and felt Bucky's breathing right beside me. His hands were tightly around me and I hadn't felt safer. I listened to the men outside as they prepared themselves for the mission. I turned around to face him. He looked so peaceful when he slept. I wanted to remember his face. Remember the way he looked so calm and at peace.

"Bucky," I said, and watched as he opened his eyes a little before closing them again. "James." I said and he began smiling.

"You know I've been sleeping with men for the past three months and not once have I woken up to something as beautiful as you." He opened his eyes and I kissed him like he was the last person to ever be alive. "So beautiful." He whispered.

I stared into his eyes. They were the last things I wanted to see before he leaves. I didn't want to let him go, but I couldn't hold onto him forever. He kissed my forehead and held my head there as he left go. He got out of bed and pulled on his shirt and pants. I sat up and watched as he got ready. I wanted to cry. I needed to cry. I was losing him again, after I found him again.

"Come back." I said and he smiled. He walked closer and kneeled on the ground before me and pulled my hands closer to his chest.

"I promise." He's been on so many missions before I got here. I was being selfish. He was a fighter and a good one. He kissed me quickly and grabbed his bag as he walked out.

"Buck!" The men yelled and cheered as he walked out. I pulled on my uniform and walked to tent with the wounded soldiers. They all seemed to be asleep and stable.

"Your boyfriend?" One said as I looked up to see Bucky leaving on a vehicle. I turned around and smiled.

"Something like that."

"If I were him, it kill me to be leaving you."

"He'll be back." I said harshly and he smirked.

"That's what they all say."
