I'll Find You

Six

"I'm so sorry Dr. Kingston." I felt my heart stop. The world stopped. I nodded and sent the men off. I had no one. Officially had no one. I couldn't let it bother me. Men needed my help, a load of people needed my help.

I watched Howard work on proto types of guns and other weaponry. "Want the first shot?" Howard smiles and hands me a gun. I stand up and get ready to aim. He comes close behind me and places his hand on my waist and the other on my hand. I knew how to shoot a gun so this was just bullshit. I fired the gun and the bullet went towards the dummy but ricocheted. Howard pulled me down and the bullet hit the wall behind us. I laid on top of him and quickly got up after I catched my breath.

"Howard!"

"I should have warned you, I was working on a different suit material. Apparently it would be unsafe." He smiled and looked back at the wall the bullet went into.

"Evelyn!" A loud whisper came from my tent and I woke up to Peggy.

"Peggy?" She nodded and put her hand over my mouth.

"We need your help. Follow me." I stood up and pulled on my navy jacket as we walked out. Steve stood there and smiled with wide arms.

"Steve." I said as I ran up to hug him. He wrapped me in his arms."I'm so sorry."

"He's not dead. I'll find him and bring him back to you. I promise."

"You can't promise me that." He smirked a little and stuck out his pinky. I took my pinky and wrapped it around his.

"I promise."

We gathered up ammunition and weapons as Peggy called in Stark. "You realize how much trouble we're in." Peggy says and I nod. She begins smiling and I do too.

"Phillips is going to be pissed."

We set off in the helicopter and Peggy gave Steve instructions. I sat beside Howard and basically prayed Bucky would be alive. "You know maybe after this Agent Carter, we can stop and get some fondue?" Howard jokes, and everyone goes silent. Immediately bullets start flying up at us and Howard turns a little bit. We're being fired at by all sides.

"I'm going now!"

"No we're taking you all the way in!" Peggy yells back but he stops.

"No turn around now! Stay safe!" And with that Steve jumped from the aircraft and down.

"You sacrificed another mans life because you believe the unit is alive?!" Phillips yells, at Peggy and I.

"I don't regret my decision. And I'm sure neither did he." Peggy yells and a sound of men cheering sounds over the hill. We walk out of the tent to see Steve with Bucky by his side leading a group of men more than he set off with.

Steve walks up to us and puts up his pinky. "I promised."

I hugged him instantly and let go to hug for the awaiting Bucky. I kissed his lips that tasted like blood and bad breath but I've never been happier to kiss anyone. The men started cheering Captain America and we chimed along. All I could stare at was him though. He was the only thing I wanted to see every day and night.

"Sit down." I said, and James does as he is commanded. I grab the stitch kit and other bandages and medicines. "Steve told me you were strapped to a table?" I asked and moved closer to clean his cuts.
