I opened my eyes to a white ceiling. The Andrew sisters were playing on the radio as I sat up. A woman walked in. "Hello, Dr. Kingston."

"Where's Steve?" I asked and her eyes got big. "Steve Rodgers! Where is he!" I stood up and walked towards her and out the door. When I turned around Steve was running out the door and fast. I began to chase after him and when I reached outside the streets were lit up to the sky.

"What is going on."I said to myself and black cars surrounded Steve. I ran over to him and touched his hand gently. He looked at me and held on tight.

"Captain Rodgers." A man said with an eye patch over his eye. "Dr. Kingston." He walks over with his hands up and we stabilize our breathing. "We wanted to break it to you slowly, you've been asleep for seventy years."

"I had a date."

"If you come with us, we can explain." The man says and we get into the big box car, still staying by each other. We walked into a building named the Smithsonian which there were many of? But this one had an exhibit dedicated to our lives. When we walk in, a photograph of all the howling commandos is there and an auto recording of a voice starts.

"The Howling Commandos were a group of men under the command of Captain America...." I turn around to see Bucky's face on the wall. I feel my heart break again as it did in 1945.

"Can you give us a minute?" I ask and the men walk back out the front. We move ourselves in front of the television and Peggy comes on screen. She is crying but trying to keep a strong face as she tells the story of Steve Rodgers. I hear him begin crying behind me and I turn around resting my head on his shoulder.

After a while we just sat down listening to the recordings another 5 times. "70 years." I said, and he nodded.

"He was on the side of the train." Steve says, "the handle broke off and he fell before I could get him. You deserve to know..."

"When HYDRA brought him in, they pushed me into a room and told me to save him. I can't remember him...I remember screaming and crying, but they..." I felt myself tear up and remembered the screaming and my body shocking against the metal. Steve wrapped his arms around me and held me close as we both faced the fact.

"Look we have a place for you too to live together downtown. Tomorrow I'll fill you in more." The man says and we both stand up.

"What is your name?"

"Fury."

"Just Fury." I said,

"Yes." I cracked a smile as we drove to the apartments. It was darker out and people were everywhere. The world had really changed in 70 years.

We walked up to our rooms. Both had full closets and anything we would need for he next few weeks before we move on. As soon as I got out of the shower I began crying again. I needed time to rethink everything. Everyone we knew were dead. We got to live. That hardly seems fair.

"Evelyn." Steve says as he walks out. "You can sleep with me tonight if you want." I thought about it. He was all I had, and I was all he had.

We laid in bed silent. I don't think either of us knew what to say or do. We could wait for the next day and the next until we die.

________

We sat in front of projector for hours. After America won the war. Howard Stark and many others including Peggy created a program called SHEILD meant to protect us from enemies. Apparently we've missed a lot.
