*Serena Pov*

I was walking down the street alone at night wearing black converses, a tank top, and jean shorts. My hair was cut really short, which was actually a good thing considering that every day this summer had been over 80 degrees. Even with the sun down, it was still extremely hot.

Why was I walking alone at night? Well, it all started because I had a sudden craving for a Twix. Problem was, it was almost midnight, so I knew that my father wouldn't let me leave the house for any reason. Like seriously, that man was so overprotective that the house could've been on fire and he'd still have to think twice about allowing me to step out the door. So I did what any any normal girl with an irrevocable craving for chocolate would do.

I snuck out my bedroom window by climbing down a tree.

Okay, I realized doing that wasn't anywhere near normal. Don't judge me, I had an abnormal attachment to chocolate

The snapping of a twig made me whip my head around to locate the source of the sound. I then glanced around my neighborhood, suddenly feeling uncomfortable walking alone at this time of the night. There could be stalkers, or pedophiles, or even murderers.

Oh my.

In an attempt to put my nerves at ease, I took out my phone and called my best friend Leah Jackson.

"Hey," she said cheerfully.

"Hey Leah-"

"Sike, leave a message" her voice mocked. Her answering machine has gotten me one too many times, and when she got back I would be sure to tell her to change it. She was in Philadelphia babysitting for a while, and even though she irritated me I missed her so much.

Popping my headphones in my ears, I began to hum along to the lyrics of Memories Back Then by T.I. The gas station was right down the street from where I lived, so it was only about a five minute walk. Even though it was a short walk, the hill was a struggle to travel on. Going down didnt bother me that much since it wasn't that steep. The problem arose when you had to walk back up the hill, but I'd worry about all of that later.

I opened the door to the gas station and immediately sprinted towards the candy aisle, my twix radar going crazy. There was only one left, and I reached for it. Unfortunately someone else felt that they deserved to have my twix, so they grabbed it at precisely the same time I did. I was prepared to curse out whoever it was for thinking that they could tear me away from my twix. That is, untill I looked up.

My eyes landed one of the finest boys I have ever seen in my life. Actually, scratch that. He was definitely the finest boy I have ever seen in my life. He was a few inches taller than me and muscular with milky brown skin. The cargo shorts and red t shirt he wore looked good on him. Extremely good.

'Me gusta. Me gusta. Me gusta.' A perverted voice repeated over and over in my head.

The boy began to say something, but due to the fact that I still had my earphones in, I couldn't hear a thing he was saying. He was probably talking about how much of weirdo I was for almost attacking him.

I immediately took my hand off the twix and a mumbled a quick apology before hurrying out the gas station. Embarrassing would definitely be an understatement.

As I began my walk back home, I mentally slapped myself for being such an idiot. What sane person stares at someone then runs away? He must've thought that I was insane. There was a tap on my shoulder, and I turned around. To my surprise, it was that boy that I was sure that I creeped out back at the gas station.

He held his hand out, offering me the Twix that I risked being grounded to sneak out for. "Thanks," I said taking it out of his hand. I ignored the weird feeling that ran through me when our hands brushed against each other.
