I rushed up the stairs of the abandoned building, taking them two at a time. The only thing running through my head was Chres. There was no doubt in my mind that we were meant to be together.

When I made it to the door that lead out to the roof, I took a deep breath before turning the knob.

Chres was seated on the ledge of the building, his feet dangling off the side. I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face as I tip toed towards him.

"I saw you come up." He said without looking back, ruining my attempt at sneaking up on him. I pouted as I took a seat next to him, leaving a space between us. "Well, you could've at least pretended like I scared you."

"You know me, I like crushing dreams." He laughed, shifting his body towards me.

"What's next? You steal candy from a baby?" I joked. He smiled slightly, and then a comfortable silence settled between us.

I noticed Chres scoot a little closer to me, but he tried to act as if nothing happened and continued staring off into the distance. "So, what made you change your mind?"

I followed his lead and scooted closer to him. "My mind was already made up. I just tried to ignore it." I admitted.

He scooted closer once more so that our thighs were now touching. "so, you want to date me even though I've been in jail?"

"Yeah"

"Even though its dangerous being around me?"

"Yeah"

"Even though I steal candy from babies?"

I burst out laughing, and shook my head at him. " I think stealing candy from babies is a bit much. I take it back, I don't wanna be with you." I joked, standing up as if I were going to leave.

He stood up and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Well I'm not letting you walk away from me ever again, so i guess you're stuck with me." He said seriously. I rolled my eyes and rested my hands on his firm chest.

"Just shut up and kiss me Chresanto."

Maybe I was dreaming.

I blinked twice, not believing what was going on, and even pinched the skin on my arm for good measure. There was no way that my former best friend was currently holding a gun up to my face. This shit doesn't happen in real life.

"Yeah, I don't hear you talking all that shit now Jake." he mocked, still aiming his gun at me.

"Ray, chill out." I said cautiously. "Put that thing down"

"Don't you dare tell me what to do!" He yelled completely in rage, taking a few steps forward with the gun.

"Ray, you wouldn't shoot one of your best friends, right?" Nicki tried to reason with him. He immediately clicked off the safety and smirked. "Try me."

"Why are you doing this?" I asked him. Well, what I actually wanted to ask was, 'When the fuck did you get so crazy,' but I just kept that to myself. Somehow I don't think that he would take being called crazy lightly.

Ray laughed maniacally, and wiped away and imaginary tear. "My dear Jacob, what you should be asking is why I haven't done this sooner." Nicki and I remained silent, prompting him to continue.

"Jake, for you getting girls is easy. You lure them right into your trap of all that hair and your stupid cocky attitude, then you just break their hearts. It makes me sick." He spat, sitting down in my desk chair, lowering the gun slightly.
