I found it difficult to sleep that night. Paranoia filled me up to the brim. Every little sound sent my stomach up a wall. I would close my eyes and try to be still but I just couldn't. The pain from my wounds weren't helping anything.
Today had been the worst day of my life and I was surprised to find that I actually survived.
From the attack at school, to the bridge crossing, all the way up to when Oliver and D'Anna were attacked by that animal.
I didn't fully believe what D'Anna was saying but I couldn't think of a reason not to. She wasn't a bad person. She doesn't murder people or anything,(at least I hope she hasn't), all though I wouldn't be so shocked if she did. You just didn't want to get in her way. She has a bad attitude problem and isn't afraid of anything.

I had a bit of faith in what she said but the way she was acting out, put me on the edge. I'm not to sure how think about this. I do have a little trust in her, but not enough to be alone with her.

We had decided to sleep in the alleyway until we found a better place.
I sighed and turned over. The ground was so cold and uncomfortable and I couldn't see how the rest of my little group was able to sleep.

Oliver was snoring and Zayjay was sleeping so soundly, from time to time, I actually thought that she was dead. D'Anna was curled up next to her sister. Her breathing was heavy and drawn out.

Knowing that I wouldn't be able to sleep I stood up and stretched my tired muscles. Maybe I'll have a better chance later today or tonight. Right now I was drowning in my own thoughts.
I made my way over to the sidewalk.

I say down on top of one of the building remains and tucked my legs underneath myself. I gazed up at the sky and let out a long breath.

The clouds the sky were thinned out more but rain still continued to sprinkle down. I was just glad that the heavy rain had passed. I never enjoyed rain but I didn't mind a light sprinkle. Though the thinning clouds, I could see the stars. Tiny little white dots shining down to the Earth.
I felt goosebumps run up my arms and legs as a slight breeze flew by. I didn't dare move though. My eyes were locked on the stars.

My eyelids were heavy when I watched the sun rise up behind a grassy hill. It was a wonderful sight really.

I began to remember all the sunrises and sunsets I would watch with my sister. We would watch the sun fall behind the horizon and then in the morning(if we woke early enough)we'd watch the sunrise. Emery would watch them with us sometimes but not always.
I missed my siblings. Where could they be? I wondered where but I just couldn't think of anything. I tried not to think of the worse and continued to watch the sun appear.

After the sun was fully up, the rain had stopped and the clouds were gone. I hopped off the rock and stretched my legs and arms.
I dragged myself back into the alleyway to wake everyone else up. Oliver was first.
I knelt down and lightly shook his shoulder.
"Oliver." I whispered.
Nothing.
"Oliver."
Still nothing.
I groaned impatiently.
"Oliver!"
He shot open his eyes and sat up. "Wha..?"
He rubbed his eyes and stretched then stood up. Oliver looked around as if he was confused. Then rested his gaze onto the ground."I was hoping that this was just a nightmare but..." His voice trailed off.
I place my hand on his shoulder. "Oliver. This is a nightmare. A real one."
He sighed and slowly walked out of the alleyway.
I woke up the sisters and soon we were on our way.

"Brooke, wake up!" D'Anna snapped at me.
I groaned and opened up my eyes.
After walking through the city for so long, Zayjay and D'Anna wanted to rest their feet, so we all found a building to lean against. I decided to stand so that I didn't fall asleep, but I guess that it didn't work.
I shook my head to wake myself up and stared at my wrapped up arm. Curiosity got the best of me and I began to unwrap my arm. Oliver watched me intensely while Zayjay and D'Anna sharpened their knives, not paying attention.
Once the last of the cloth slid of my arm, I almost passed out.

The cut was completely swollen. It was different shades of pink, purple, red, and even black. Dried blood was crusted along the actual cut and a bit of new blood could be seen too. I'm no doctor but to how it looked and felt gave me the vibe that it was infected.

Oliver gasped lightly and shot over to me. He gently took my arm in his hands and observed it.

"Don't touch it. Please, it hurts." I told him, beginning to pull away from him.

"Don't worry I won't. I just want to see if it's dirty. I don't want it to become infected."

I rolled my eyes. "I'm pretty sure that it already is, Oliver."
I got pulled my arm away from him and started wrapping it back up.

"How's your other cut?" Oliver asked, staring at my shoulder.

I placed my hand on it. Feeling the scab that it had formed into, I cringed a little. "It hurts but not as bad as the one on my arm."

Oliver lightly placed his hand onto my hand that was on the scab. "It'll be alright, Brooke."

My heart began to beat faster and I broke away from him.

He stared at me.
I stared back

"I hope so."
