Brooke's POV
~~~
I woke up the next day feeling fresh and new. I hadn't sleep in a while so it was good to finally get a full night of sleep. I glanced at the clock on the night stand.12:38am
That wasn't too bad. I got out of the bed and stretched. I smiled. This was nice. The sun was shining, there was no clouds, the bed was comfy, I could hear birds singing, my country was under attack by terrorist and I could possibly die today...
My smile disappeared and I hung my shoulders. That last one didn't seem so great but that was reality.
I looked out my window. It was cracked a bit. There was only a ruined city to look at. I sighed.
Why is this happening? I didn't want it to. I wanted it all to just be a bad dream. Why couldn't it be?
Suddenly I could see people. Real life people walking down the street.
My heart fluttered with hope. Maybe they were citizens. We could all help each other.Then I looked closer.
These weren't citizens. Tasitalens.
I groaned and quickly shut the curtains to the windows.
Would I be able to leave this hotel? I mean, like I was thinking last night, I could stay here for a while. I should really, but things like food and water worried me.I thought about the water that came from the waterfall. I quickly threw that idea away. It probably wasn't the cleanest water and at a time like this, getting sick was not an option. I did have about two water bottles from Oliver's backpack but how long would it be until I ran out? Should I go back to the store?
I decided no. It was too risky. I should explore the hotel more. There might be water somewhere. It's a hotel after all.
Food wasn't too much of a bother. I had plenty but I still I had no idea how long I'd be staying here.
After a while of pacing around the room and thinking, I finally confirmed that I would only worry about food and water unless it was an emergency or if I began to run out.
I put my boots on and opened a backpack.
I pulled out the box of bandages and looked at my arm and shoulder. The bandages on me were soaked in blood from yesterday. I unwrapped my arm. The bleeding had stopped but the cut was sticky and I had to practically peel the bandaging off. The cold air rested onto the cut and made me shiver. It was still swollen and it felt hot.
I took some of the ointment from my backpack and rubbed it into the cut.
It was soothing and I sighed. I put a new bandage on and did the same for my shoulder.I hoped to heal soon but I knew it would be a while. These stab wounds were deep. All I could do now, was change the bandages and apply the ointment every so often.
I put everything back in my backpack and swung it over my good shoulder. I peered out the window one last time.
Tasitalens were still there. Marching around with their guns pointed at there sides. They didn't look up at me.
I frowned.
If I had a gun of some sort, I would have just started shooting them. All of them. All I had was knives.I touched the handle of the knife I had in my belt. I could throw it. I shook my head. No, that would be stupid.
I pulled the curtains together and marched out of the hotel room.
I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't know where I was going. But the thought of my enemy standing right next to me was too much. I wanted to find a gun of some sort. Get a better weapon. It would be dangerous but I didn't care. I was pumped on adrenaline.I got to the elevator and pushed the button. The doors opened and my heart dropped, making my blood cold.
There was no way I was seeing what I was seeing. I rubbed my eyes and blinked. No it was real. I didn't know what to do. I was frozen.
The doors closed and I slammed against them. I hadn't gotten on the elevator yet.
"Wait!! Wait!"
I punched the button again. My heart was pounding so fast and I could feel the pulse in my stomach and face.
Long moments went by and I felt my fists ball up. I was so mixed with emotions. I growled.
The doors opened and the wonderful sight was gone. Nothing was in the elevator.
I screamed and threw myself into the elevator. Tears streamed down my face. I pushed the button that would take me to the lobby.
I was hyperventilating and my hands were starting to sweat, I was squeezing my fists so hard.
The doors slid open and I saw the wonderful sight again.
She was running to the exit of the hotel.
She wouldn't get away from me again."America!!"
I exploded out of the elevator and sprinted towards her.
She turned around and smiled.
" Brooke!"
She ran towards my.My vision was blurred from my tears and we crashed into each other.
We fell over and I don't think that we've ever hugged so tightly.
"You were here this whole time!" She squealed.
I nodded my head. "Yeah."
"I searched the 5th and 6th floors. I was on my way to the 7th but I think I fell asleep I the elevator." She giggled.
I laughed along with her. "I saw you in the elevator but I didn't think that it was real. I was on the 7th floor."
"I woke up when I felt the elevator moving. I thought that one of the terrorists found me so as son as the doors opened, I ran."
"No it was just me." I said, patting her head.
She didn't reply but I didn't mind it.
We laid there for a few moments before getting up and dusting ourselves off. We looked at each other and hugged again.America kissed my head.
"I'll never leave you again. From here on out, I'm not letting you out of my sight."I smiled. "Same with me."
I was happy that I found my sister but something didn't feel right. I felt like we were missing something.
Emery. Our little Emery. We were missing him now.America was thinking the same thing.
"Now we just need to find Emery." She whispered.We broke free from our hug.
I planned to leave this place in search for weapons but that was out of my mind now. Now I was in search of my little brother.
