Isabella's POV:
I wasn't in that joking mood anymore. Not at all. I was scared for the Commodore's life.
"Harry! No! You can't do that!" I protest as he walks to the man steering the ship. When he ignores me I grit my teeth together, determined to get his attention.
"You can't do what you please just because you're a pirate! You're so stupid to think you can beat them!" I accuse and he turns to me, eyes blazing and his nostrils flaring.
"Shut up princess. I can do what I want, I basically rule these waters. And..." He sneers, pausing to come up and grab my arm, yanking me so I'm face to face with him.
"If you dare insult me again, I will make sure you watch those 'precious men' be blown to bits." He threatens and my mouth drops.
"Understood?" His voice is icy and cold and I have no idea why. How can he go from a cheeky pervert to a cold-hearted man?
"U-understood." I stutter and he nods, letting go of my arm roughly and turning to the man steering the ship.
"We will fight Charles. Turn the boat sideways so we can welcome these little pests." Harry orders coldly and I gulp.
I go to the ledge of the ship and stare out into the water, tears brimming my eyes. Why, why did this have to happen? Why does Harry have to be so cruel?? Why did I have to be here?
All of this is my fault because I didn't run out with Darla. Everything is turning out to be my fault. These people are about to lose their lives because of my stupid mistake. I always seem to screw things up.
And I hate that.
I blinked away my tears and slowly turned to find Harry looking at me with guarded eyes. I'm sick of playing his stupid game. I've been with him a day and I've already been in too much trouble!!!
What does he even want from me?? Why can't he just let me go already? He probably hates me. My anger started to get the best of me and I snapped at him.
"Why can't you just let me go? Who cares that you made a deal!! You're having too much trouble with me already and it hasn't even been two days! Just please let them take me home." I beg him and he frowns.
"No." He says and I bite back tears. "Why??" I ask desperately, not wanting anyone to get hurt because of me.
"Because I can't." He whispers and comes to stand by me, looking out at the waters. I still face away from him, tears blurring my vision.
"And I can't let people die for me." I say lowly and take off running. Harry's head quickly snaps up when he sees me running. "Bella!" His voice boomed but I ignored him and kept running.
He curses and starts chasing me, but my adrenaline is pumping, making me go faster. I didn't know exactly where I was going to go, I just had to get away from Harry.
A hand grabbed my arm and yanked me back, making me yell out. Harry's angry eyes were pinning me to the spot. My legs felt as if they weren't able to move.
"What do you think you're doing?" He growls and I shove him away from me. "I'm not going to let anyone die for me!! I'm not worth that!" I yell and shock flashes in his eyes.
"You think you aren't worth it?" He asks softly and I look to the ground. Secretly, I knew the real reason my father wanted me back. I knew.
He wanted me to marry the stupid prince. And 'make him proud'. He didn't really care that I had been kidnapped. And that's why I can say I'm not worth it.
"I don't want innocent people to die." I say, skipping over his question because I didn't want to bring up my family to...a pirate.
"And what exactly was your plan?" He asks and I gulp. "I-I...I was going to..." I stutter, knowing I was caught and he looks me in the eyes.
"Exactly. You wouldn't have been able to do anything." He says and I sigh. I knew he was right but I was too stubborn to admit it.
"One life isn't worth dozens. If I were to just get out of here everything would be better." I state honestly and Harry takes my hand, leading me to the cabin.
"If I tell you to stay here, will you?" He asks and I grow silent. He groans and shakes his head.
"Bella, listen. You can't go back just yet. I-I can't explain it but you can't. They can't have you. If I have to I will lock you in here just so you stay safe." He says and I frown.
"What if they blow up the cabin? I'd die then." I say, trying to get him to change his mind about the whole thing, but he just glared at me. "Stop trying to make up excuses or 'what ifs', what do you want?" He asks and I look down.
"I just want to know what you plan to do." I say softly while tears brim my eyes. Harry sighs, running a hand through his hair conflicted.
"Fine. You can come out there. But you have to stay by me, at all times, okay?" He negotiates and I nod, a small smile on my face. "You still didn't tell me what you plan on doing." I say and he huffs.
"It's nothing you need to hear. You'll find out soon enough." He says quickly and holds out his hand for me to take. I reluctantly did with a frown, his big hand engulfing my small one.
He leads me outside and up to the quarter deck, standing beside the edge as he addresses the sailor steering the ship.
"How much longer till we hit?" Harry asks and the sailor gives him a sure look.
"We have completely turned sideways and we are ready to fire whenever you say." He says and Harry nods. "Load the cannons!" Harry calls loudly and everyone starts running to their stations.
"Bella." Harry says, holding my hand to him. I look up at him, waiting for him to tell me whatever he was going to.
"Stay with me." He says again and I nod. "Okay. I will." I say and he looks relieved. Harry goes up to the railing as he looks over the deck, seeing his men in place.
Someone's going to get hurt. It's all my fault too.
My hand squeezed Harry's nervously and he looked down at me with a frown. "It'll be okay Bells. I'll protect you." He says softly and quickly gives a kiss to my forehead.
I blush, looking down for a moment before looking back up into his green eyes. "Harry I just don't want to be responsible for people dying." I say worried and he sighs.
"Sometimes sacrifices have to be made. Don't worry about it too much, it...it will be okay." He say softly, a hint of hurt in his voice.
Could he have had something bad happen to him? A sense of guilt hits me as I stare at him, but he just gives me a soft smile and looks away.
I look over to the Commodore's ship, helplessness filling me as they continued sailing towards the pirate ship. Harry's going to attack, I know that much. I just don't know how badly he's going to hurt them.
"Ready!" Harry calls, his free hand going in the air. The ship was sideways and I saw some men putting the cannonballs in the cannons.
"Aim!" Harry calls and I take a deep breath, squeezing Harry's hand as he called the final words, beginning the attack. It was really about to happen.
"Fire!!"
