Chapter Fifteen (Time)

Jerry's POV
It has been more than a few weeks since Sarah chose me over Toryn. I've never considered myself to be as good looking as my best friend because he's always been the one girls want. Which is why I'm surprised each and every day since the incident with how Sarah shows her devotion to me. She's willing to bake sweet treats for me every night and bring them to school all wrapped up and delicious. If I wasn't doing both soccer and karate regularly Sarah would have fattened me up by now. From the bottom of my heart I am am glad to say - without any remorse or hesitation - that this girl is mine and mine alone.

Me and Toryn are still friends but our friendship has shifted since the incidents. We're distant now and we barely communicate. Just a few indistinguishable grunts and eye gestures. Nina seems to still be after him and it does not seem to be progressing all that well. I feel sorry for her because no matter what they do and no matter where he'll never like her like that. Not because she isn't beautiful it's because she's too open. She displays her body for all to see and leaves no imagination. And once upon a time I thought of taking her out.

Until I met my beautiful redhead I don't think I truly knew what happiness was, knowing that she was by my side each and every day was a bonus as well. 

One memory I have that I will never forget though second week of school, tryouts for clubs.

Sarah was all fidgety and nervous. She kept untying and tying her hair over and over again until eventually Joanna came up and put it into two ponytails. "Why are you so nervous? You've done this a thousand times before." Her tone is demanding and fierce but there's a hint of nervousness laced in her voice as well. I was baffled as to what they were talking about and Sarah was to nervous to try and explain it to me. "I know but this is a new school, with new people and not the ones I'm use to."
"Look you're going to do great like we always do because I'm going to be by your side, okay?" Sarah seemed to calm down slightly at hearing Joanna's reassuring words. "Okay." I was still waiting for an explanation but there didn't seem to be time for one as one of the soccer guys dragged me away saying that tryouts were starting and I needed to be there. "Go Baby Boy. I'll see you later." I heard Joanna say to Edward before grabbing him, kissing him then letting him follow after me. It looked like I already had someone who was trying to be on the soccer team. Surprising because I never pictured Edward as a soccer guy. I looked at Sarah over my shoulder and saw her giving me and encouraging smile and wave before we disappeared around the corner.

As the soccer tryouts concluded we had only 5 people who made it onto the team. One of those lucky five being Edward. About to walk off but I am stopped in my tracks by Hyde and Toryn. Hyde looks excited as always and Toryn is avoiding eye contact with me. "Dude come on don't tell me you're leaving without at least getting one peek at the new cheerleaders. Come on." Hyde pulls me along to the pavilion so we may see the new cheerleaders. I'm not even remotely interested because the only person I had on my mind was that passionate redhead. I did not register the names or faces of the girls who came up and did their routines. I did notice that somewhere around girl ten Edward sat down next to me, somehow knowing something I did not. Nina is sitting at the table and gives a relieved sigh when she turns over to the last page, which signifies the last person trying out. "Joanna Arc and... and Sarah Xavier." I'm paying full attention now and Edward seems to be smirking next to me as the to ladies come out. They're both wearing purple knee socks, purple skirts with gold plaits - which they're probably wearing purple shorts under - and gold tops with purple shoulders. In their hands Sarah has gold pompoms and Joanna purple ones. Sarah looks just as nervous as when I left her or more so now and Joanna even seems to be a little jumpy. "We'll be doing our own routine if it's not a problem." Nina leans back in her chair and gives a smug snort. "Do whatever it is you like. Considering you're doing a routine with a nerd you're probably not going to make it anyway." Joanna releases a frustrated sigh at hearing Nina's insult, she looks at Sarah for confirmation and Sarah nods back. They're ready to start and the music begins.
