1965.
Westchester,
New York.

Eleanor writes the homework in the blackboard before the students leave the classroom.

"For next week, I would like you to study the chart I drew on the blackboard to answer the question below, and please remember to talk about what you think of each theory" She explains with a smile. They students laugh softly "Okay you can go now" She says tidying up her books. She looks as how the students leave the class and cleans the blackboard.

Opening the school was the best thing that happened recently. Charles was happier and had a reason to be proud of everyone. Not only that changed, but Eleanor finally has the chance to choose a better path. Although opening the school was difficult due to the Vietnam War, there is still a reasonable quantity of students who haven't been called off to war. They are helping mutants, giving them an education and showing them they are okay.

Just when they finished building and getting ready the school, Charles and Eleanor started to look for students. It seemed like a boarding school for very intelligent students, it's name was Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters and that's how they could convince parents to let their kids study in their school. Charles said that it was Eleanor's school too, but she didn't want to take part in that.

"The students love you" Charles comments as he enters the room. He doesn't need anyone to push him now since his arms are strong enough to push himself.

"I don't get why" She comments "I put them more homework than Hank, although Physics need more time than Biology"

"But you make them like what you teach" He looks at her "It is truly wonderful to see that"

"So, you are spying on me now, uh?" She teases him, making him scoff.

"Oh, please, I don't need to spy you to know everyone loves you" He comments with a smile. She turns to look at him and places a gentle kiss on his lips.

"You are such a flirt" She whispers going back to do what she was doing. Charles pushes himself next to her and sighs.

"Another one is leaving, Eleanor" He informs seriously. She looks at him, leaving the blackboard alone and sitting in her chair in front of him "This war is slowly taking them" Eleanor looks down nodding and Charles raises his eyebrow "What is it?" She shakes her head and takes his hands.

"I-I got another letter, last week" She says stuttering. Charles looks at her worried "They need experienced doctors and nurses" She says looking at their hands "But I am not going" She finally looks at him. He narrows his eyes.

"They obviously need you, Eleanor" He murmurs. She nods and gets closer to him.

"But they are not the only ones" She tells him with a sad smile "I have to stay here"

"Eleanor, I can take care of myself" Charles adds with a smile. She shakes her head.

"I am not leaving this, I am not leaving you" She says standing up "Don't do this again, Charles" She leaves the class with her books and goes to their room.

She knows how Charles feels about her staying. She knows Charles feels bad for her. She knows everything. But she is going to stay not only for him but for her. It is the only thing she has left. Erik, his foster-brother, lost her and after that he killed the president. Eleanor closes her eyes and lies on her bed.

Sometimes she gets the feeling of going back to Erik, to his Brotherhood of Mutants. Go with Emma. Forgive her. See how Raven is doing. But she made a promise to Charles, and he needs her more than he cares to admit. But so does Eleanor. She stays because she truly loves him. If not, she wouldn't be here. She would be trying to survive. She would be on her own for the first time.

1 month later.

Someone knocks on the door and a she looks at it as she is lying on her bed.

"I am asleep" She shouts. They open the door and she finds a young Alex Summers entering the room with a backpack. She sits up frowning and looks at him. He smiles at her amused.

"You have a very deep sleep" He comments jokingly. Eleanor scoffs but her expression changes from amusement to confusion.

"Where are you going?" She asks with a small smile. He hands her a letter and she reads it.

Alex Summers, you have been
called off to fight in the name
of your country, the United States
of America, and will fight along
with your military recruits.

Eleanor stops reading and hands it back to Alex. She looks at him sadly.

"Be careful" She tells him with a small smile. The war has taken away from them the students and the teachers. He nods and wraps his arms around her "Don't let them get to you and fight, not for your country, but for your future" She tells him.

"I will. Take care of this, and of the Professor" He replies "Goodbye, Scarlatta"

"Goodbye, Havok"

And just like that, another one is gone. A good one. Alex stayed through all this time. And now he is leaving.
