Quinn's P.O.V
After Vivian finished redressing my stomach, there was a soft, but tension filled silence. I refused to meet her eyes. I knew the yelling was about to start. She wasn't yelling. Why wasn't she yelling? I chanced a glance in her direction. She was staring off into space. I sighed quietly, and buttoned my shirt back up. I hadn't exactly packed anything, so I had to walk around in a blood soaked shirt. Great.
Vivian looked over at me, but quickly looked away. I opened my mouth, but snapped it shut as soon as I realized I had nothing to say. I didn't know where to look, so my gaze fell upon my cast. Most people would think they're useless with a cast on, but I liked to think of it as an inconvenience. I got up, sat down on the couch next to her, and remained looking forward.
" Go ahead. Start yelling." I said disheartened. She closed her eyes and shook her head. I winced at the motion. To others, that might be a sign of her dropping the subject, but I'm not others. I knew her, and I knew she was about to start a full blown rage fest.
" That was," she paused. I flinched and held my breath. She was about to blow her top. " Pretty cool. That was pretty cool. No, that was epic." she said still looking forward. I breathed a sigh of relief, and cracked a smile. However, it was short lived.
" We could have died. You could have killed us." Vivian got up off the couch. She began pacing in front of me. I didn't know which was worse; her ranting, or the silent treatment. I sighed and stood up. I placed my hands on her shoulders to keep her in place.
" In all honesty, you're right. I could have killed us, but the men in the other car were trying to kill us. Believe me, if I wanted us to be dead, we'd be dead. Don't doubt my skills." I half joked, trying to get her to smile. My attempt was successful when I heard her chuckle softly. Her features turned serious.
" We really could be dead right now. You could have crashed the car. I mean even if you survived a crash, my dad wouldn't have let you get that far." she said nonchalantly. She didn't need to tell me that. I already knew. I nodded my head vigorously.
" So, what do you want to do now?" I asked. If we were going to be there a while, and I had a feeling we were, then we desperately needed something to entertain ourselves with. Vivian seemed deep in thought. I was about to head to another room, but I caught a glimpse of a devilish smirk on Vivian's face. She stepped closer into my personal space, and she lifted her hand to caress my jawline. I gulped.
" There is one thing we could do." she purred. A shiver went down my spine from the tone of her voice. I attempted to find the will to push her away, but my body betrayed my mind by pulling her closer. Her arms wrapped around my neck. I place my hands on her waist and pulled her impossibly closer to myself.
" I don't think we should be doing this." I told her. She put a finger to my lips to silence me. I allowed her to. She smiled at my obedience.
" Your hands say otherwise." she said. I knew what was happening was wrong. I knew my feelings were wrong. I knew the whole situation her family was in was wrong, but I couldn't care less. My gaze flickered to her lips. I licked my own in anticipation. I saw her slowly lean forward. I subconsciously started to lean in too. Both of our eyes fluttered shut. I could feel her breath on my face, and I was positive she could feel mine. We were so close when a loud beeping blared. We jumped apart as quickly as we could.
" Damn it." I whispered not so quietly. I wasn't sure if I cursed because we were interrupted, or because I allowed it to get that far. I was silently thanking the interruption, and planning its demise at the same time. Vivian sighed in frustration, and strode to the kitchen where she was cooking something in the microwave. She was mumbling something along the lines of " Give me a break." and "Seriously?". Once she was out of my sight, I quickly berated myself.
