Chapter 4 - Time Passes

*4 months later*

"Hiiiii." Michael said, just like he does every morning. 

"Aye." I said, kicking him lightly, he was sitting on the floor in front of his locker.

"MAIA!" I heard someone scream my name down the hall. I turned my head to see my best friend, Elyce, running at me. 

"What?" I yelled. I dropped my bag on the ground and she grabbed my hand and led me to the girls washroom. 

"GUESS WHAT?!" She yelled once again.

"Elyce! Chill out!" I said, I had no idea what she was so excited over.

"Guess who broke up..." She said, smiling widely. My eyes widened. 

"No..." I said. She nodded, still smiling. Just then we heard the door click, and whining.

"Oh my god!" I heard from a familar voice, that I wish wasn't familiar. It was Rachel, Luke's 'girlfriend'. 

"Don't worry, it's his loss anyways." One of her followers said, she nodded at her. She then stopped suddenly and turned to Elyce and I.

"What are you guys doing in here?" She barked at me. 

"Uh, it's a washroom, what do you think?" Elyce shot back, I elbowed her.

"Is everything ok?" I asked, I didn't really care I just wanted to hear the story.

"Yes! Everything is just fabulous!" She walked up to the mirror, her high heels clicking on the way. She wiped her makeup which wasn't even smudged. She turned to me and took a short breath. Elyce and I awkwardly stood there.

"Can you like... not be here?" She said to us. I shook my head and rolled my eyes.

"Whatever." I spun on my foot and walked out. I peeked my head out of the door and saw Luke, arguing with Calum and Michael. I quickly walked over.

"What's going on?" I asked cautiously. Luke looked down at me, he looked really upset. Seeing the pain in his eyes really hurt me. Luke was also my best friend, we had gotten really close over the past 4 months. I was pretty much in love with him too, not that that matters though considering I'd never have a chance. I turned to Calum, he looked down to the ground. 

"Come on guys..." I said, turning to all of them, waiting for a response.

"Rachel cheated on me." Luke suddenly said. I turned to him and put a hand over my mouth. 

"Luke we warned you!" Michael called out.

"I know!" He said, holding his hands on his neck.

"Luke... I'm sorry." I said. What I really wanted to do was hug him and comfort him, but I knew he didn't feel about me that way. 

"Thank you babe but, don't worry about it." He said, giving me a little smile.

"I'm just gonna go home. I'll see you guys later." He grabbed his backpack and started down the stairs. I shook my head.

"What a fucking whore." I said turning to Calum, Elyce and Michael. I looked over to see Rachel and her friends walk out of the washroom. I looked over to Calum who was shaking his head at me, he knew what I had in mind.

"Maia!" He called after me, but I was already down the hall.

"Listen here Rachel, how dare you fucking cheat on my best friend? Who do you think you are? Luke is the nicest, sweetest, and caring guy I've ever met and you have the indecency to go and cheat on him? If you can't realize that then go and fuck yourself." I yelled at her. She gave me a look of surprise but it quickly faded.

"Bitch you listen, just because Luke would never date you doesn't mean you need to take it out on me." She laughed. I felt butterflies in the pit of my stomach. I shook my head at her.

"Oh yeah keep fucking laughing because one day you're gonna realize the mistake you've made and regret it forever." I said. She gasped and glared at me.

"Ladies, Ladies!" A teacher walked up to us, I realized we had attracted a crowd.

"What in going on here?!" He asked, standing between us at a safe distance.

"This girl is threatning me." Rachel said, pretending to be scared.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" I laughed.

"Hey you! Get down to the office... NOW!" The teacher yelled at me. The hallway went quiet. I turned and went down the hall. Calum, Elyce and Michael followed me.

"What was that?!" Elyce asked, grabbing my arm.

"I don't know!" I said rubbing my face, "I have to go." I started down the stairs and walked into the principals office.
