Jeff's POV

I woke up in a dark room. But I soon came to figure out that the room I was in, was a closet.

Panic started to rise inside of me. What if she calls the police? I started pounding on the door.

"LET. ME. OUT!" She wasn't answering. But I could I hear her laughing. Was she enjoying my

Helplessness? I decided she wasn't going to let me out any time soon, so I needed to think of a way out. I started kicking the door with all of my strength until it finally came loose of its hinges.

I kicked it one last time, and it fell over. I came out of the closet and glared at her. But she was on the ground, doubled over laughing. "What's so funny?!" I yelled at her. She wiped the tears from her eyes and said: "the door wasn't locked." She continued to laugh.

Nice going Jeff

Kate's POV

I was laughing so hard, I thought I would explode. Why was I laughing my head off when this guy might as well rip it off any moment now? Maybe I've lost a bit of my sanity. I don't know why I'm not concerned. I was snapped out of my thoughts when a hand grabbed me by the neck and pinned me against the wall.

"You've had your fun.... Now it's my turn." He said raising a knife. Hey, I thought I hid that. As he was about to kill me, I grabbed his hand and stopped him. "Look, you can kill me, but only on one condition." I said blinking back tears. "You can't kill Colby."

He looked at me sadly and said: "I wasn't going to kill him." I loosened my grip on his hand and let go. "What?" I asked him. Thinking I didn't hear him right. "He reminds me of Liu." He said with a sad expression on his face.

"Your brother? But why does that change anything? You killed him too." I said.

He tensed as soon as I said "killed". "Liu meant the world to me, and now he's gone. I will never, ever forgive myself."

There was an awkward silence, so I decided to say: "well, now that I know you won't kill him. You can kill me." I closed my eyes and clenched my fists, waiting for him to strike. But the moment never came. I opened my eyes to see him clenching the knife in his hand and staring at it.

He glanced back at me and back to the knife. Anger showed on his face, and I was terrified. But instead of coming at me, he chucked the knife across the room and it landed with a clatter on the kitchen tile. "No, I won't. I can't." He said with a shocked expression on his face. It was as if he surprised himself.

He looked me straight in the eye and said: "I don't know why, but I can't bring myself to do it." He said taking a step closer to me.

"Something's telling me not to do it." Now that's something an insane person would say. But for some reason, he didn't seem so insane like he was in the stories I had read.

I heard sirens outside and screeching tires. It was the police. The neighbors must have called them. His breathing got faster and he looked at me to see if I would stop him from escaping.

"Run." I said. "Just run." He obeyed immediately and ran for the back door. Before I could blink he was gone. Criminal instincts.

I can't believe I let him go. But he was protecting Colby, and I couldn't ask for more. Colby meant the world to me, just like Liu had to Jeff.
