"NO!" I screamed. Josh was towering over me, with an evil grin. "You were cheating on me Kate." "I told you we never started!" I punched him and he fell to the ground, knocked out. I rushed to Jeff's side. "Jeff! I'm so sorry...." I said through tears. "I'm going to get help!" I pulled out my phone and called my mom. "Hello?" She said into the phone. "MOM! You have to get over here! NOW!" I screamed. "Wh-what's going on?!" She yelled. "No time to explain! I'm next door to the Carpenters a few blocks away from our house! You should see me as you get there!" "Ok, I'm on my way!"

Jeff was staring off into space, but he was still breathing. "Jeff, you have to stay with me!" I said to him. He didn't even turn his head to look at me. In a matter of minutes, an ambulance was at the house

Mom was in her scrubs and she hopped out of the back of the ambulance. "Kate! What's wrong?!" I motioned her over and she saw Jeff. "What happened?" "He was shot! You have to help him!"

I saw a team of paramedics come out of the vehicle, but I told them to stay away from him. They would for sure recognize him! They obeyed me, after I threatened them.

The thing I was worried about most right now, was losing the only person that understood me.

Jeff was on the couch, still unconscious. "Explain. Now." My mom said sternly. I told her that his name was Jeff, and that he was a serial killer. Her face went white after I said that. "He's a what?!" "Mom, it's not his fault, three people made him this way, they made him insane. He didn't ask to be this way." "But we still have a killer in our house!" I told her to calm down, and listen to me very closely. "Mom, nothing you say will make me stop being with him."

Her mouth fell open in shock. "Y-you like him, don't you?" I nodded. "He swore to protect Colby, and I couldn't ask for anything else." She nodded understandingly. "He's one of the only people that's ever understood me." I say. "I can't take something so important away from my daughter." She said hugging me. That's when I knew she was on my side.
