I cringed and closed my eyes, waiting for the impact. But it never came.

I was being held by strong arms. I was just saved by a killer. I thought he would watch me plunge to my death, and laugh when I hit the ground. But he was different. I slowly opened my eyes and looked up at him. He was breathing heavily and looking back at me. "Thank you." It was a simple phrase that made him smile. An actual smile.

He set me down on the ground and said: "I'm such an idiot! I was just standing there! I don't know why, but I couldn't move! I left you to fend for yourself!" He said throwing his arms up in the air. "Hey, it's fine. We're both alive, that's all that matters." I said to calm him down.

We both heard a loud crash in the house, and whipped our heads around to see a cold face staring at us through the window, then disappear. "Come on,". He said running farther into the forest. I eventually caught up with him and we stopped.

"We will have to stay here for the rest of the night." He said. I nodded and sat down on a rock.

Neither of us could sleep, who knows if that thing will come back for us! We both finally fell asleep, and woke unharmed.

"So, what do we do now?" I asked him. "Wait, where's the most abandoned place here?"

He asked me back. "Besides that house," he said with a sigh. "Well, there's this warehouse outside of town that no one has been too for years."

"I can picture them going there." He said.

We soon left the forest and came to the road. We followed the road for 3 hours and finally came to town. But Jeff stopped dead in his tracks. "What?" I asked him suspiciously.

"Uh, look at me." He said pointing to his face, and then his blood spotted hoodie. I guess I never thought about it until now.

"It will be fine, maybe no one will notice." I said grabbing his arm and pulling him towards the towering buildings.

But he still wouldn't budge. I noticed a newspaper by his feet and he picked it up.

"Um, I think you need to look at this." He said handing me the paper.

I should have seen this coming. The headline said:

TWO KIDS MISSING SINCE MONDAY.

POLICE STILL SEARCHING.

I let go of the paper and it blew away in the breeze. "My mom will have to wait."

Jeff's POV

She finally got me to go into the city. I know that with each step, I'm getting closer and closer to

Certain death. She kept pulling me with all of her strength until I started walking on my own.

Man, she's really stubborn.

I pulled my hood farther over my face as people started staring at me. What if they call the cops?

But when I wasn't paying attention, I ran right into one . Shoot, I'm so dead.

"Watch where your going, kid." I heard him say. "Hold on a second, why are you covered in blood?" He said stopping me in my tracks. I was about to bolt until she started defending me.

"Oh! That's not blood! It's fake!" She said. The officer eyed her suspiciously. "Ok, then explain why he's covered in fake blood." He said crossing his arms.

"Uh.... Cosplay!" She said with hesitation. I nodded in agreement. He looked at her again with suspicion.

"Then who are you supposed to be, Blondie?" He asked her with a smirk.

"Um, Goldilocks!" She grabbed my arm and started running.

Kate's POV

Man, I'm really bad at lying. The whole entire sheriffs department is going to be on to us now.

Nice going Kate! I live in a small town, so I could see the warehouse in the distance. "We're almost there." I said as I ran.

We finally exited town and started walking. It was all fields and hills for the rest of the way.

The warehouse was at least five more minutes away. I started running and he did the same.

We finally got to the warehouse, and I was out of breath. But Jeff just stopped and didn't even complain. He's probably used to stuff like this. I went over to the front doors of the ware house, and tried opening them. But they wouldn't budge. "Locked." I said with a sigh. He picked up a rock and hurled it at the window next to the door, and it shattered into a million pieces.

Then we heard voices coming from inside, and they were drawing closer and closer. We both hopped in through the window and hid behind some boxes before they came into view.

"The window!" Two men ran over to the broken window and started bickering about what happened.

While they fought, Jeff and I went down a dark hall. We tried being as quiet as we could, which was not easy for me. We turned a corner and heard cries coming a locked room.

I recognized that cry from anywhere! It was Colby! I tried really hard not to scream his name.

We passed a room, not knowing that the room had its door open, and someone was inside.

He shouted and a cigar fell out of his mouth and he didn't even notice. The man went after us and Jeff pulled out his knife and stabbed him in the chest. The man looked down at the hole in his chest and fell over dead.

But it was too late, they had already heard the mans screams. We ran over to the room Colby was in, and the door wouldn't budge. "COME ON!" I yelled frustratedly. But I wouldn't give up, ever. I found a crowbar sitting on top of a box and started bashing the lock with it. The lock finally snapped off and we burst inside. Colby was tied to a chair and had tape over his mouth.

Jeff started cutting the ropes and I gently took the tape off of his mouth.

He was covered in bruises and scratches. Obviously abuse. I picked him up and we ran out of the room, only to be surrounded by several people armed with guns.

"Put the boy down, and no one gets hurt." I heard a woman say as she cocked her gun.

"And why do you think I would do that?!" I yelled at her. I handed Colby to Jeff and I picked up the crowbar. "What do you want with him? HUH?! I asked as I hit her on the side of the head with it. She fell to the ground and her head was bleeding.

The rest of them stared at me, then raised there guns again. Jeff handed me Colby and we started running. We heard several gunshots behind us, along with pounding footsteps.

We finally came to the front doors and we hopped through the window. More gunshots rang out behind us. We ran as fast as we could, not daring to look back.

But we finally stopped, and saw that the whole place was on fire. Screams rang out from inside the warehouse, and I knew that there would be no survivors.

---

We came to the front porch of my house. I sat Colby down and he burst through the front door. I heard mom scream and cry at the same time. I hugged Jeff. "Thank you so much," I said through tears of joy. "No problem." He said. As I was about it go inside, Jeff said: "wait, I never got your name."

"My names Kate. Kate Walker.
