Wonder rather than doubt is the root of all knowledge.

"Hi Sofi!"

"Hi Mia!"

"Hi Diana!"

"Hi Mia!"

"Hi Lea, hi Lisa!"

"Hi Mia!"

It always took a while to greet everybody in the morning.

"So, what did you think of the weekend?" Sofi was beaming at me excitedly.

Having placed my bag on the floor and under my desk, I tilted my head to be able to glance at her. At the same time, I fished for my pencil case and my notebook.

"Well, I-"

"Oh, Mia, I am sooo in love with him!" Sofi gushed, not giving me an opportunity to respond to her question.

Not that I minded, since I was still not quite sure what I was feeling about the whole boyfriend situation, anyway.

"Marti is really cute, isn't he? You know, he phoned me yesterday. He said he just wanted to hear my voice and that we should meet soon. Your guy - Beni, isn't it? - Marti said that he has a car. We could go out with them next weekend! That would be great, wouldn't it?!"

I think she actually said all of this in one breath. Amazing!
Watching Sofi talk in that animated, bordering on hysterical, way of hers, I always teetered between being amused and annoyed. Depending on my mood.

Today I had to stifle a giggle every time she raised her arms and splayed those long, spindly fingers into all directions, sweeping them about to stress her point.

When you looked at her digits closely, you discovered that - with the years - they had not simply grown longer. No, they had also twisted up, down and sideways.

And - no - I am not exaggerating!

Anyway, it was quite obvious that Sofi was immensely pleased with what had happened on Saturday evening and she seemed more than eager to continue what we had started.

Sighing, I plopped down on my chair, still not very enthusiastic about having a boyfriend I 'was tied to'.

"Oh, what has happened, what are you talking about?" Diana suddenly chimed in, looking at us expectantly from her seat on my left side. Her body was turned towards us and her head propped up on her left arm, which rested on her side of the desk. She looked utterly ready for some enjoyable gossip.

"You haven't heard?" Sofi was only too happy to comply.

"Mia and I have boyfriends now!! We met them last weekend!"

"Wow, how did that happen?" Diana enquired curiously. She had been invited to a different party that weekend, which was the reason why she had not come with us. Knowing the people who had thrown that party, it must have been decidedly more - posh - than ours. Well, I guess it couldn't possibly have been less posh.
