Ava's POV

"There is now way in hell that I'm wearing this godforsaken thing." I tell my mom as she lays out my outfit.

"Nonsense! It's a lovely dress and we're going to a professional dinner with the Sterlings. We need to be on our best behavior." My mom says, holding me by my shoulders.

I look back at the outfit then back at my mom. "But why this?" I whine, flopping back into my bed.

"It's beautiful!" She exclaims.

The outfit was a a black dress that was tight around the bodice and then flows out after my waist. It was paired with (ugh) black heels and a gold clutch. My mom had curled my hair and had put on my makeup from beforehand.

My phone rings and I pick it up, sliding the answer button to talk to Daisy.

"Hey girl. How are you doing?" I ask her and she giggles.

"I'm doing good. So far. Are you ready for the dinner party?"

I sigh. "Almost. My mother dearest is making me wear a dress. And heels." I glare at my mom who smirks back.

"Change into these clothes or I'll take your phone away." She says making me gasp.

"You wouldn't?!" I exclaim and she nods.

"Honey, try me."

Sighing, I nod. "Fine."

My mom grins then exits my room.

"Daisy? You there?"

"Yep. Right here. So it seems like you have no choice but to wear the dress?" She says.

I groan. "God, I know. I don't wanna go." I whine.

"I'm pretty sure the dress isn't the reason you don't wanna go." Daisy tells me and I can hear the smirk in her voice.

"If you think the reason is Chris then well...you're almost not wrong." I answer back pathetically.

She laughs. "Nice. And Ava? You should just let him explain."

I scoff. "He made his feelings pretty clear yesterday. I don't think he has to explain much anymore."

She sighs. "Well I'm gonna hang up cause you have a dinner party to get ready for."
