Chapter Seventeen: You're Safe Now

Chris's POV

I tapped my foot patiently as Danny searched on his computer on Nick Shannon.

"It says here his father was arrested for running an underground drug mafia. He's linked to your parents, Mrs. Mills, who were also in a gang. It's says here that Nick's father died in prison so Nick took over the family business. Pretty sure that also means he also took over the drug mafia. Nicks last whereabouts are actually around here. His phone is also turned off so we can't exactly trace where he is. Oh! He's been to a lot of psychologists over the years." Danny reads off his file.

"Psychologists? What for?" James asks.

Danny looks over the screen of his laptop. "Says here that he was having love problems. He was still pining over his old flame. It almost cost him to go to a mental ward." He looks over at James who looks stern.

"That could explain why he took Ava. He gets Ava, he gets back at Sarah." James looks over at Mrs. Mills.

"So now what?" Tommy asks.

"Well Nick is after Sarah then he's going to do something to get our attention-"

"We've just got a call from the 911 operator. Apparently Ava called from an unknown number. They've traced the call." Danny interrupts James.

The two get up. My breath gets caught in my throat as everyone leaps upas well. Ava. She's okay.

"We're going to go get her." James tells us.

"We're coming with you. She's our daughter." Ava's parents say.

Mark and Tommy also agree with them to come along. My parents, Caroline, Daisy, Jacob, Dean, and I also do the same.

"You all can come but you must not follow us into the building. We can't risk anyone else getting hurt." James tells us and we nod.

"We're coming for you, Ava." I whisper as we all leave the house and get into the officers car.

Ava's POV

I struggle against the chains as flames erupt all around me. The twins and Nick set the building on fire and then left.

I've been struggling for the last fifteen minutes to get free. I fall in my knees, trying my best to reach for the axe on the burning table. My entire body is sweating and hurting. I finally grab the axe, dropping it beside me. I grab it with both hands, spreading my feet apart to break the chains. I hit the chains and they snap but they don't break. I hit it again and again until the chains break. I untangle my feet, shakily getting up on my feet.

Now how do I get out of this room without getting burned? From over the noise of the flames, I hear sirens and my heart pounds erratically against my ribcage. They're here. They're actually here!

I step over a line of fire, almost tripping and then I leave the room. But I have no luck as the entire warehouse is up in big flames. I move away quickly as a piece of the ceiling falls down, crashing into some things. I try to maneuver my way around but the flames are too big to get through.
