Ava's POV
My heart has dropped to my stomach and it felt as if I couldn't breathe. People were shouting and someone-girl-was crying uncontrollably. But I couldn't hear them; my ears felt like they were blocked and no sound could enter them.
My legs buckled as I felt to the floor in shock. This couldn't be happening. The faces in front of me were blurry but as every antagonizing second passed, they were getting more and more clear. It was then I realized they weren't looking at me. No one was looking at me. They were looking at--
My eyes widened and I screamed, crawling my way to his weak body. Chris held his wound with both hands but their was blood seeping out through the gaps. Tears flooded my vision. He took a bullet for me. He was going to die because of me.
"Chris!" I screamed, "Chris, no!" I sobbed as I held his face. He turned it, smiling weakly at me.
"It's okay. Ava, it's okay," He whispered and I shook my head. No!
"You can't die, Chris! You can't just leave me here! Chris, please," I begged as my chest heaved. He just smiled. I was being selfish but I didn't care. I need Chris in my life.
"Ma'am you need to move aside," A paramedic touched my shoulder an so shook my head.
"No! I need to be with Chris," I shouted, leaning closer to Chris who just looked at me in pain. His eyes were starting to flutter shut.
The paramedic pushed my aside as I thrashed around him. "No!" I screamed again. Mom came over and held me back.
"Sweetie, they're taking him to the hospital. Ava, please," She cried as she hugged my tight. They placed him on the stretcher and I watched as they carried him out.
I need to go with him. I need to be with Chris. I shook off my mothers hands, running after the paramedics. They were loading Chris into the vehicle.
"Patient is Chris Sterling. 18. Wounded in the chest area; minimal breathing; caused by a gun shot from a army gun. He's dropping in and out of consciousness," One man repeated over a phone, helping to load Chris inside the ambulance.
"Let me go with him!" I yell, trying to get inside but someone--two people actually--hold me back. I thrash in their arms and watch as the vehicle with Chris inside drives off.
"We have to go to him! Let me go!" I scream, turning to face Dean and Jacob. They look at me with sad expressions.
"We're going to go. But first you need to calm down. He wouldn't want you to be like this. Ava, please listen to us," Jacob comforts me and I let out a sob, dropping into his arms.
"He can't die! I...need...him," I hiccup, more tears clouding my sight. Jacob squeezes me tightly soon followed by Dean.
"He's not going to die. Chris is strong so we need to be to," Dean mumbles, striking my hair.
After a while, my crying has ceased and an officer had brought a car for us. My mom and dad hug me and kiss my cheek, relived that I'm okay bit worried for Chris. I need him to be okay. I don't know what I'll do if he... if he's...
