Ava's POV

Something tapped my shoulder making me stir in my sleep. "Stop it," I mumbled sleepily.

The something let out a chuckle followed by an 'ouch'. My eyes slowly cracked open, staring at the culprit. Chris.

"Oh hey Chris. Stop being an ass and let me sleep," I tell him, closing my eyes again as I lay my head in my hands at edge of his hospital bed.

"Okay," He replies, humming slightly. Good. Now I can slee--

My eyes shoot open as I stare at my boyfriend, placing my hands on either side of his face, "Oh lord, you're awake!" I shriek.

He winces, letting out a smile as I still stare wide eyed at him. "You're one clueless gal, sweetheart," He smirks at me.

I wrap my arms around, careful not to hurt his wound. "You idiot! How dare you?! Taking a bullet for me. You almost died," I exclaim and Chris shrugs.

"Keyword; almost," He says smugly and I lightly hit his shoulder.

"Jerk," I mumble.

His eyes twinkle in amusement, "Sweetheart," He says back.

I sit on the bed, Chris wrapping his arms around me pulling me closer. I lean my head against his chest, listening to the inhale and exhale of his breath.

"I heard what you said," He says after a while.

My cheeks flush red, "You mean what I said when you were unconscious?"

He nods, "Yeah. Pretty cute, sweetheart," He smiles boyishly making my cheeks heat up again.

"I-I," Cutting myself off, I glance at the brunette, "I was scared. I didn't want to lose you," I say quietly, a tear slipping down my cheek.

"Oh sweetheart," Chris sighs, hugging me tighter. "You will never lose me."

I let out a sniffle, "They took Nick away to prison. Hopefully, he'll be sentenced with life."

Chris presses his lips to my forehead. I let out a sigh. He was okay. He was really okay. I didn't know what I would do if he...died. We stayed in silence, just hugging each other and listening to the constant beeping of Chris's heart. Well until the others all came in. His parents were heartbroken, Mrs. Sterling more than her husband, who just tried to look tough. Daisy, Jacob, and Dean hugged him along with my parents, brothers, Caroline and Aisha.

That's when the nurse walked in. The male nurse. Daisy squeaked as she recognized him. I let out a laugh and Chris smirked. It was Mr. Hawaiian Boyfriend.

"Hi everyone. I'm Raymond. I just need to check Chris here for a sec then I'll leave you to him," Mr. Hawaiian Boyfriend-Raymond-says, smirking once he sees Daisy blushing madly in the corner.

After checking Chris, Raymond smiles at Daisy before turning to Chris's parents. "He'll be discharged tomorrow. Make sure he gets plenty of rest. No physical activity for a few weeks," He says, Mr and Mrs. Sterling nodding graciously.

"Thank you, young man," Mr. Sterling says to him.

Raymond starts to leave and I gesture to Daisy to follow him. 'Why' she mouths to me and I narrow my eyes at her, 'Go'. She huffs, discreetly following the hot nurse outside. I smile in satisfaction. Plan complete. The two will make cute babies.

"You are such a meddler," Chris whispers and I giggle.

"They'll make cute babies," I say, voicing my previous thoughts.

Chris rolls his eyes, "Girls," He mumbles under his breath.

I glare at him, "If you weren't injured, I'd punch you," I say and he smirks but keeps quiet.

"Well, at least all of this is behind us," Chris says, staring at the group of folk who chat with each other.

I nod, burying my face into his chest, "Yeah. Thank god. I've had enough action to last me a lifetime," I say causing Chris to laugh.

"Same here," He agrees. I smile.

"Hey Ava?" Chris asks me after a moment. I look at him curiously.

"Yeah?"

He smiles adoringly at me. "I'm so glad you bumped into me that day," He whispers, catching my lips with his.

I smile into the kiss, "I love you too."
