They walked down a path lined with roses, tulips and other pretty flowers Zadia couldn't identify. Each flowers stem twisted and turned up and down the trellis. When she looked up see saw a beautiful creamy blue with a few white fluffy clouds. Everything here was so pretty! “Where exactly are we?” She asked Shar. “We are in Avalon.” He said. Avalon? Zadia thought, wasn't that where fairies lived? Surly she couldn't be a fairy. They weren't real! She would just have to wait and see what Shar said.
They came to a gate and Shar said something under his breath, Zadia couldn't make out what is was. Then the gate swung open and revealed a place full of life, and not just people, but plants and animals, too. Each plant fit in perfectly with the ones near it. The animals all were very well taken care of, their coats were so shiny they sparkled in the sun. Even the people looked very neat. Each person had either white, orange, green, yellow hair. Their clothes were also as colorful as their hair, it was like looking at a giant rainbow! Zadia noticed there were no dark colors at all. This could not be where she came from, she didn't fit in at all!
They continued walking, this time heading for a large building that was completely white. It had giant icicles hanging down from it, it must have been a palace. Once they got the rest of the way there, Shar stopped in front of the door. He sat down on a nearby bench and motioned for her to sit next to him. Once she was sitting and comfortable, he started talking.” Zadia, you are not normal.” he said. “ This is where you belong, its where you were born.” “That's not true!” she spat. She didn't know why, but she was suddenly very angry. “ I was born at home where I belong! This isn't where I was born!” she tried to get up and walk away, but Shar grabbed her arm and made her sit back down. “ There is a lot to explain.” he said, “ And I need you to sit and listen to what I have to say. Please don't leave, Zadia. Too much time has been wasted already.” She didn't want to stay, but Shar sounded desperate, and she did want to hear their side of the story. Even though none of it's probably true, she thought.
Shar told her that she was a fairy. She had to go into the real would disguised as a a girl to save the fairy population from the gnomes. The gnomes wanted to have Avalon to their selves, so Zadia volunteered to go into the real world to distract the gnomes, while the fairies made a stronger door (the gold door) and another gate, (the silver gate) this way the gnomes had no chance to get into Avalon. Zadia was only supposed to stay there for 5 nights, but her memory got sucked away because she was in the real world too long.
The fairies then lost contact of her, and couldn't figure out how to bring her back. They made the website to lead her to them; it was the only thing they could think of to do to get a hold of her, and luckily, it did work. If Zadia stayed in the real world her whole life, had asked. Then Shar explained that fairies lived a lot longer then humans , so when every one she knew had died, she would still be alive. Eventually people would realize that she had been a alive longer than she should have been, and most people would assume she was a fairy.
“Are you sure I'm a fairy?” “If I wasn't why would I tell you? I would expose fairies.” Shar got up and Zadia followed. Again Shar stopped in front of the door to the palace The door opened, and a elderly man appeared. He had a long white beard, and white hair. He was a bit hunched over, and his eyes showed kindness. “ Zadia. Oh we miss you greatly! It is a great pleasure to have you back with us!” Zadia did not know how to respond to him. He looked like he was the king of fairies, so she didn't know whether to bow or say thank you! Luckily Shar started talking. “ Declan, it is of great honor to bring Zadia to you, but she is having doubts of whether she is a fairy. I brought her to you in hopes that you could show her some of her past.” “ Why of course! I should have realized that she would not remember everything! Yes lets do that. Zadia come with me please. Yes, yes right this way!”
This man seems very energetic for his age, thought Zadia. But he is very fun to be around! In the palace, you walk first into the lobby. It had velvet red carpet, and jewels hung on the walls. There were two staircases on either side of the wall. Each railing was made of pure gold. The ceiling was a huge stained-glass dome. “Wow! This place is amazing!” Zadia said. “ indeed it is,” said Declan, “ it is home to our Winter Fairies.” “Winter fairies are the highest ranking fairies,” Shar explained. “ They are the ones with the most power, and are the ones that are crowned King or Queen. Declan, is a Winter fairy. He is actually our king right now.” “ Oh, what kind of fairy are you? What am I?” Zadia asked. “Shar is a spring fairy. They have the lowest power, but are very important.” Declan said. “ They protected our gate from the gnomes. Without them, fairies wouldn't exist anymore. And you, Zadia, you are very important too.
You are a Winter fairy, like me.
