Chapter Seventeen

Zadia tried the first spell she could think of, the unfreezing spell. Surprisingly, it worked! Zadia burst through the door, only to find that Shar had been frozen too. No problem she thought. I can just unfreeze him too!Only this spell had a lock on it, and Zadia had no idea how to break it. She decided to ask Declan, he was reading that magic book wasn't he? When Zadia found him, he was still under the tree reading the book. “Declan, how do you unlock locked spells?” she asked.“I...don't...know.” he said it so that each word was spread apart. ““Who gave you that book?” Zadia questioned. “Puck.” Puck must have put a spell on the book! No wonder Declan didn’t leave his spot for 3 days! Zadia was not happy with Puck at all! She decided to ask Puck how to unlock spells.

Zadia ran down to Pucks room and knocked on the door. When Puck answered Zadia asked “Can you give me a lesson?” “What do you want to learn about?” Puck questioned. “Oh, I want to learn how to lock and unlock spells. When I make my cure for frost bit, I want to lock the freeze spell so I can make sure no one does anything to it. And then of course, I need to know how tounlock it!” She answered. “Of course, Zadia! That would be a very useful technique to have!” He sounded very happy strangely. Zadia thought she might have to put up a fight, but, then again, Puck might not know she knew about Shar.

It took a lot longer than Zadia wanted, but she finally learned how to unlock spells. She thanked Puck and ran back to Shar's room. It took her a few extra minutes to get the spell to work, she hadn't had that much practice yet, but she finally got the spell unlocked. She watched as the ice that covered Shar's scared body began to melt away. When Shar's mouth was unfrozen, Zadia hounded him with questions.

“Why were you frozen? Who froze you? Was it Puck? Why did he freeze you?” She asked. “Whoa, one question at a time!” Shar said. “Lets start with who froze me, its a long story.” Shar explained that yes, Puck was the one that froze him. Puck had asked Shar to let him into the monsters jail. Shar had said that he was under strict instructions from Declan, that no one could enter the monsters jail. Puck had asked Shar to walk with him so he could explain why he wanted in with the monsters. Puck told Shar about wanting to take Declan's spot as king and how he was going to do it. When they finished their walk, they ended up in Shar's room. Shar told Puck that it was very un-fairy like of him to want to do that and that he had to tell Declan. That was when Puck froze him. Shar concluded.

“Its up to us to stop him.”Zadia said firmly. “He gave Declan a book that put him under a spell. I tried to tell him before, but he barley noticed me.” “How long did you know about Puck?” Shar asked. “Only about 2 days,”Zadia answered, “and I think Diecon is in it with him.” Zadia and Puck spent the rest of the night figuring out a plan. Now that they had the two of them, matters changed entirely. Declan would be no help at all, but they could still talk to the other fairies. They went to find the Fall fairies. They were the second strongest and would be the most helpful. They found the highest ranking fairies in studies and explained to them what was happening. The Fall fairies said that they would help as much as they could. All of the fairies would meet at the bridge before the sun came up in the morning to discuss their plan.

The fairies met at sun rise as planed. The Falls weren't too happy about using their magic against Winter Fairies. They still greatly respected them and there might be some kind of punishment or consequence for going against the Winters. Shar told them that they only real consequence would be a reward for saving Avalon. In the end, Zadia and Puck won them over and they were officially included in saving Avalon.

Sara was leading all of the falls. She was very head on her studies and was also very advanced. Zadia decided to make some frost-bit cure first. She made lots of it too, Puck was a strong fairy and could easily take out their whole army just by using frost-bit. She spent most of the morning helping other fairies when she could, and making more frost bit cure when she could. In the end, she had about 4 lbs. of the cure. The Falls had gotten quiet a bit of work done in just one morning too. They had made about 20 jars of a camouflage potion so they could sneak up on Puck. They also had some dust to use to turn the area into fall. As long as it wasn't winter, Puck couldn't get anymore power from nature as he had now.
