Declan and Zadia walk in silence. Declan was the first to break it. "When are you going to tell me what has been going on?" He asked. "I am not going to be the one to tell you. I didn't do it, so I won't say it. I have someone else in mind to tell you." Their conversation ended there. It was only a few minutes until they got to the palace, but walking in silence made it seem a lot longer.
__________
"What has happened here?" Declan demanded. They made it to the monster jail, and Declan was shocked at what he saw. "Well, Declan, I think that Puck here has some explaining to do." Zadia answered. "Is this true, Puck? Did you have something to do with this?" "Um, yes sir," Puck muttered.
"You see, Declan, I was tired of coming second. You were always first, and I was always so closely compared to you, just never above. For once I wanted to come in first. I studied harder and longer. I tried everything I could. But it seemed that the more closer I got to you, the better you got.
I felt completely hopeless. I was just surrounded in a bubble of anger, that wouldn't leave. I got a great idea, and I thought it would make everything better." Puck stopped there. He obviously didn't want to have to tell Declan his plan. Declan had other ideas.
"Keep going Puck. Admiting your mistakes is very strong of you, but you can't stop when something you did gets bad. You are the one that did the crime, therefor you will earn the punishment for the crime. This is just one small part of your punishment. Continue."
There was no way Puck could refuse Declan. He was in enough trouble already, why make it even worst? "Okay," Puck obied, just as Zadia predicted. "Well, um, sir, you see, my plan was to release the monster into Avalon. I put a spell on your book you keep you glued to it while I release the monsters. Then, I could capture them and put them back away in the jail.
The fairies would all be so thankful that I saved them, that they would make me the new king. That's it." Declan seemed to ponder what happened. Finally, he spoke. "Zadia, I believe it is your turn to talk. Puck has told me his plan, but it seems that you have made it unsuccessful. Let's hear what you did."
"Well, Declan, you see, on my first day, I was visiting Diecon. She asked me to deliver a package to Puck's room. When I knocked, no one answered. I assumed he wasn't there. I tried to door knob to see if it was open. It was, so I went inside. I was only planning on dropping off the package, but I happened to come across a notebook with his plan written inside. As soon as I read it, I didn't exactly believe it, but later on, I found out that Puck had told Shar about his plan...and I, we got the other to help us prevent him from getting away with it." Zadia finished.
"Thank you, Zadia. Puck, I think we will be going. We have to discuseyour punishment. Zadia, I want to meet with you later in the palace." With that, he turned and left. With a snap of his fingers, Puck was unfroze and behind Declan's heels.
_____________
Later that night, Zadia met Declan as he instructed. "Zadia! So glad you could make it. I have called you here because I wanted to thank you. You have saved Avalon. You see, I am getting very old. Fairies may live longer than humans, but we do die eventually. I would like to spend the rest of my life reading, and helping the younger fairies train. I cannot do that, and be the King of Avalon too. Zadia, I am giving you the chance to be the Queen of Avalon." Zadia was shocked. Her? All she did was stop Puck from releasing monsters.
"Yes." Zadia said. "Yes, I will be Queen of Avalon. But will I ever see my human parents again?" "Of course! You may visit them whenever you like. Oh, and don't worry about Puck. He is taken care of. We'll have your ceremony on Moon-day.
