Character 26 - Eventful

Edd's POV

Today is the day.
Today is the day that I no longer am a student.
Today I am free from the hassle of having to study.
Today I'm free from the hassle of stressing over assignment's due dates.
Today I graduate college with a master's degree.

I am torn between missing it and ready to yell profanities at the school when I pass it since it took up such a long time to get out of there.

I fix my tie looking in the mirror.
My hair is slicked back, it still felt weird not wearing that only black hat with two white strips on it- even though it had been roughly four years now.

"Ready?" Kevin asks coming up behind me, placing his arms around my waist kissing my neck.

I couldn't help but let out a gasp- trying to cover it up I stutter, "Yeah."

He chuckles and my face turns as red as a fire truck.

The ceremony goes mostly like my high school one, but I couldn't help but feel empty when I didn't hear Ed and Eddy's name.. It had been almost five years since I saw them last...
Words can't describe the pain I felt thinking about my old childhood friends missing from my life- but today wasn't about them- NO IT WASN'T!
It was about me finally graduating from college!
It was about me being able to get my dream job as a veterinarian.

"Congratulations!" Rave yells as Kev and I sit in the booth of the fancy restaurant we are celebrating at.

I blush, "Thanks. How much longer do you have until your graduation?"

"Only one more term," Rave smiles.

Nat, being Nat, makes a big deal of this and yells frantically fake crying, "MY CUPCAKE IS GROWING UP!"

Nat rolls his eyes at his finance causing the rest of us to erupt into laughter.

We spend the rest of the night having a blast on our double date.

"Edd?" Kevin calls from across the hall in his room.

"Yeah?" I ask going into his room to find the book at his desk behind his computer.

"What would you do if I told you I booked us a surprise vacation?"

I raise my eyebrow, "Are you hinting at something?"

He slight smirk grows on my boyfriend's face, "maybe..."

"Where to?" I ask sitting on his lap.

"Montana."

My eyes widen, "Did you-?"

"Yeah, I called them. They said they would love to see us both."

I take a deep breathe, "When do we leave?"

"Tomorrow night," he says guilty.

I nod slowly processing this all.

"Well I guess we should pack to go see my parents then."
