Dear diary,
Hello diary! It's me again Luna! So the last time I wrote to you I was just kinda lost at words, but I am back and ready to tell you the rest of my "wonderful" and "unforgettable" childhood.
So a few weeks had passed since I had seen the woman that night but still she kept haunting me in my dreams. I would rather call them nightmares but whatever.
Dreams where I walked down the street alone in the middle of the night and she followed me from the shadows. As soon as I took notice of her I started running but when I did she did too. So I kept running and running until I tripped over something and she jumped on me. Then she pulled her knife (the same one when she tried to kill her children) and tried to kill me too. But fortunately I woke up every time before she even had the chance. I didn't understand why I had the same nightmare over and over but I knew one thing I had to talk about it with someone.
The next day during breakfast I decided to tell my parents. "So, umm... mom, dad there's something I want to tell you". My parents looked at each other shocked. "Y- Yes dear, what is it" my mom began. "Well, a few weeks ago the day it was so hot and I came down several times because I couldn't sleep?". "Yes we know that" my dad answered. "Well when I went upstairs I heard a horrible scream outside and it turned out to be a woman running away from two men in white lab coats. She had two children with her and those men wanted to took the children away from her. And curious as I am, I decided to follow them from above. When I caught up with them I heard her say something about "turning them into monsters" and "I'll rather kill my own children then to turn them over to you and let them become your minions". I paused and looked at my parents who were shocked but also a bit relieved after hearing my story. I continued: "So after that incident that same woman keeps haunting me in my dreams and I don't know what to do". "Oh dear, why didn't you tell this to us earlier? We could've helped you." my mom said. "Yeah I know, but I thought the nightmares would eventually go away and..." My father interrupted me: "I think the best solution to your problem is to get you to a psychiatrist". "What!? But Thomas I thought you said that it was too dangerous for h-...". "Yeah I know what I said but if she's having the same nightmare for weeks a psychiatrist isn't such a bad idea". They nodded at each other and then they both looked at me. "We're sending you to a psychiatrist". From that moment on I was forced to go on a weekly visit to my psychiatrist.
The sessions where terrible, because everyday when I came home from school (elementary school) I had to visit her. In the beginning I really thought she was ok. But my suspicions came when she began asking things about my youth, school, my friends and even what type of sports I liked and which ones I did.
Fortunately my parents jumped in at the right time, because when I told them that she wanted me to come with her to Washington D.C. where she had better equipments to help me, they said that we had to move away from Minnesota and that I couldn't finish my sessions with Susan.
Wow, that's a lot stuff to process right? Well there's about to come more. Do you remember I said that I was going to talk about my name. Well now you will find out.
My name is Luna, which is Latin for moon and refers to lunar. Yeah I got that already you may say, but why did my parents give me this name? Well in the night I was born it was a full moon. My parents looked at the sky and were thinking of a name. Then they noticed that my hair was coloured white. And on that moment they knew the perfect name for me was Luna. I smiled at them and then looked at the moon. I tried several times to grab it but without any luck (obviously) and then I fell to sleep. My parents already knew that I was very special. And they were right about that.
At the time I got older I became more curious and I was a bit of a trouble maker. At the age of two I began to inspect the house. And with inspect I mean every corner of the house, whether it was upstairs in the attic or downstairs in the basement. My parents always had their hands full of searching for me. But most of the time I could be found in a dark spot or somewhere where the light never shone.
At the time I was four I already had a love for sports. I spent most of my days cycling (yes I could already cycle, what can I say I am a fast learner) running or climbing in trees in the forest just outside our town. And because I spent so much time in the forest, my father decided to build a treehouse with me but real high up in the trees. There I spent most of the day playing with my stuffed animals or reading books. That was until my fifth birthday...
My fifth birthday really was unforgettable. I still remember it like it was yesterday. My parents woke me with yelling: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to me. I went out of my bed and headed downstairs where a huge birthday cake was waiting for me. I just wanted to go straight for it and just eat the cake with my hands, but first I had to open the presents and cards I had received. I was about to open the first present when a huge thunder could be heard. We all went outside and saw that there was a huge cloud of smoke in the far westside of the town. I immediately thought we should check it out but my parents decided to check out the news first. On the news a reporter had just arrived at the place of the impact. It turned out that a meteor had hit our town. But when I looked closer I could see what the meteor really had hit, it was the forest I always went to.
From that day on I went to the forest every night, without my parents even knowing. I couldn't go to the forest during the day because there were just too many people around investigating the area. I've always felt weird when I came to the forest but most of the time I just shrugged the feeling away.
The meteor thing happened while Earth was still at The Nuclear War. But somehow people were a little bit more cautious and alerted then usual. It was like the meteor had released something upon the Earth even without people knowing it...
Anyway elementary school was a fun time, sometimes a bit boring but yeah school usually is boring. It was just a time where every year looked the same and nothing really happened. The world was still at war though, but on school we didn't pay much attention to it (except for watching the news every afternoon). After school I would usually go to the forest (or what was left from it) to read, but my parents one day forbade me to go there. They wouldn't tell me why they just forbade it.
When we had to move away from Minnesota to Oregon I just finished elementary school, that was a relief because then I didn't need to leave any new friends behind. They decided to move away when the War was finally over, because people would be more relaxed.
Once arrived in Oregon I started High School (Junior High) in Portland. I made many new friends and I could get well along with everyone. I soon started joining clubs in school: the running, swimming and climbing clubs. And I was really good, some people even said that I could make it to the nationals. But my parents didn't think that was such a great idea: "Dear, then we have to move again and I don't think your father wants to move away from this beautiful city." my mother always told me. I was really disappointed but I had to face reality. So it just stayed with small competitions within the town.
Today the people of Earth are at peace again and everyone is living their normal lives. At least that's what it looks like...
And here I am, Luna Roberts, 18 (soon to be 19) with a huge love for running, swimming and climbing. Sister of Liam Roberts (12) and daughter of Jessica and Thomas Roberts. Currently living in Portland, Oregon.
So that's everything you need to know about me. I don't know if I will write in you again. But until then:
Lots of hugs and kisses from Luna
