Luna's P.O.V.
It was 14:30PM and my classes were finally over. I had no other clubs today so I could go home right away. Dylan's classes were also over so he decided to walk with me home. I don't complain about it because I can understand Dylan; he was so worried about me this morning.
We walked to my home the same route as this morning. Still, I was a little worried that I would hear that creepy voice again. Luckily when we walked past the park I didn't hear anything, but I still had the feeling that someone or something was watching me...
I was just a block away from my home and gave Dylan a goodbye hug. Then I started running to my home. When I reached the front door I could hear my parents talking. 'Shit... They're already home. I wanted to spend some time alone with Shadow...' I put my ear against the door and listened to their conversation.
"Tomorrow is her birthday and it is highly possible it could happen." my mother said. 'What could happen tommorow?' "I know darling. We just have to keep her from running away." "But..." "No. No more buts. She can come home every minute now. Do you really want to tell her... what she is?" I thought for a second 'That voice was also talking about something like you'll find it out eventually and now my parents are also talking about this bullshit...' I decided to walk in as if I heard nothing about the conversation.
"Good afternoon people!" "Hey sweetie, did you have a good day at school?" my mum asked. "Yeah, it was okay I guess... I mean it's still school you know!" I laughed a bit and my parents began also laughing. It was like Shadow was waiting for me because when he heard my voice he came rushing and barking downstairs and jumped on top of me. "Hey little buddy, tonight it's some you and me time." He barked in response. I scratched his belly and grabbed my backpack. "I'll go upstairs to put my stuff away!" I yelled from the stairs. "Okay, that's fine with us! Do you want coffee?" "Yes, I need coffee!" I ran upstairs with Shadow following me.
I opened my door and immediately it felt like someone was watching me... Shadow also felt it and he began growling. I slowly walked in and put my backpack on my bed. I shrugged the weird feeling away and walked out of my room. But when I exited my room I swear I heard a low hissing sound...
It was finally dinner time. I had spent the last few hours making my astrology homework and reading books I had already read. And then my mother called me and Liam to come downstairs.
We ate in almost complete silence. The only thing we heard was the ticking from the clock and Shadows slow breaths. I decided to break the silence. "Soo, I can't wait for my birthday tomorrow!" "Yeah..." Liam answered with a worried look on his face. My parents also shared worried glances at each other. 'What the hell is wrong with them? Did I say something wrong?' Isn't my birthday supposed to be a fun time?' "Umm, I'm sorry did I say something wrong?" "No, no! There's nothing wrong darling it's just..." I interrupted my mum. "Mum, stop calling me darling! I'm so fucking done with all of you!!! What the hell is wrong with you?! I thought my birthday was supposed to be a fun time but you guys are looking like we just went to someone's funeral!!" I yelled at them. Shadow cowered a little at my reaction and also my parents and Liam looked shocked after my reaction. "C'mon sweetie, don't say things li-" "No mum, shut up. Just leave me alone, all of you!" I got up from the table and ran to the front door, with Shadow following behind me.
I ran down the road to the park. I didn't even care if I got a headache or heard that voice again, I just wanted to be alone... And like I said, just when I ran past the alley, I immediately got a headache. But I didn't hear the voice. I ran further into the park and stumbled on a branch. I rolled to the edge of the lake and then curled up into a ball crying. Shadow sat beside me and licked my arm. 'What is wrong with them? Why can't I have a family who understands me and won't treat me like a five year old?' Shadow tensed up a bit and began to growl. 'I thought you'd like some company.' "It's that voice again." I whispered. 'Yes, it's me again. And I heard you crying so I decided to visit you.' "Can't you just leave me alone?" I said slightly irritated by the mysterious voice. 'Yes, I will leave you in a bit but for now I just wanted to say, happy birthday!' I was surprised he knew when my birthday was. "H-how did you know that?" 'I already told you, I know more about you at the moment then yourself... Anyway I heard you talk about your current family and that you wanted a family who understands you. "Yeah, so what?" 'Well, I just want you to know your family is always there for you...' And with that the voice and the headache disappeared. Shadow also stopped with growling. I looked around to see if somebody was watching me, but everything I saw was the blackness from the surrounding trees and the moonlight in the lake. 'Wait, moonlight?' "For how long was I out here? I should head back, before my parents come searching for me, like the worried parents they are..." I sighed and looked at Shadow. "Tomorrow you and I are gonna spend the day at the beach, just the two of us. Tomorrow, it was weekend so I could get some time alone with Shadow. 'And maybe Dylan wants to join too...' I walked back to my home and when we reached my house I went straight upstairs without saying anything. I changed in my pyjamas and lay on my bed staring at the ceiling. Shadow jumped on my bed and laid down beside me. I stroke his back and close my eyes. 'Tomorrow is gonna be a long day.'
