Two Faced

Chapter 1

Luna's P.O.V.

It was still early in the morning. I could see the water drops on the wet grass. I went to the park near my house because I couldn't sleep. I woke up several times covered in sweat. I had again a horrible nightmare, this time, I was running from a psychopath with a chainsaw.

He was chasing me through half of the town and he had killed my whole family and now he was after me. I don't know what I did but he wasn't very kindly to stop and talk with me. I tripped and fell to the ground, out of breath, and then I saw him. He was yelling at me: "I killed your family and now it is your turn to die! YOU WILL PAY! He came right at me and I was ready to die, but just at that moment I woke up, again covered in sweat. I couldn't take it anymore and go out of my bed straight to my parents' and Liam's bedroom. 'Thank goodness, they're still alive.' Then I decided to go to the park, where I always go to, to clear my mind.

'Why do I have these nightmares again?' The last time I had such nightmares was way back when I was seven...' I looked at the sky, the sun was already rising. I just want to sit here forever with Shadow, my Pincher. But I can't, in three hours school will start. 'Great, just great. Just what I needed, I feel terrible and exactly on this day school has to start.' I lay my head down in the grass and close my eyes for a moment.'I just don't understand why all of this is happening all over again, it was such a hard time back then...' I can feel my eyes tearing up. Shadow feels my sudden change of emotion and looks up to me worried. "It's fine Shadow. Let's go for a run shall we?" Shadow immediately gets excited. I jump up and look at my phone. I had 10 missed calls from mum. 'Mum, please I am not a little kid anymore!' It's 5:30AM, I still have plenty of time to run and get ready for school.

When I get home with Shadow I hope my parents aren't too mad at me for not answering my phone. But when I open the door I am welcomed by two angry and worried parents. "Luna where were you?! You weren't answering your phone! We were worried sick!" "Yeesh mum, calm down. I can explain." "Yes explain why you had your phone turned off! I thought we told you to keep your phone on wherever you are!" dad screamed. "Dad, calm down! I couldn't sleep so I thought a trip to the park with Shadow could make my mind clear." "Luna, you still haven't answered my question!" From the corner of my eye, I could see that my mum was tearing up. "I forgot to turn my phone on, OK! Everything fine again?!" I yelled at my dad. "No, it's not fine we had an accord. I'm done with you! When you are done with school, you come immediately back home, no clubs after school, no friends, nothing." "What?! That makes no sense! Is this only because I hadn't turned my phone on?!" I screamed. "It doesn't matter, we do this for your own good." 'My emotions are at the point of exploding. I don't know if I should be crying or should be angry with them.' Instead, I glare at my parents before I walk out of the dining room and go to my bedroom in the attic, with Shadow following alongside with me.

I slam the door behind me and lay down on my bed. 'Why are they so angry with me? I can't believe it was just because of my phone.' "What is their fucking problem?!" I scream. Shadow looks at me with a questioning look. "I'm sorry little buddy. I don't know what's wrong with me. I just don't feel well." I scratch his head. 'I just feel so nauseous and also all of my muscles ache... What is happening with me...' I look at my timer, 6:15AM. I am going to take a long shower, I should feel better afterwards.

After my long shower I feel indeed a little better and I go downstairs with Shadow to get breakfast. As I walk down the stairs I can hear my parents talk. I stop to listen to their conversation. "Do you think she has nightmares again?" my mum questions. "If that is so, then we should keep a close eye on her, especially on her birthday. But still, it can be happening any day now. You know what my dad said." "I know honey, but I'm just so worried, I mean if it happens while she is in school and the school finds out she has those abilities then..." I can hear my mother beginning to cry. "Dear you know we won't let it come to that and if it does happen in school then Dylan will be by her side to take her home as fast as he can and before anyone else sees it." My mother inhales deep and says "Your right, I'm sorry." I decide to go further down the stairs. 'What was that all about, what did dad mean with it? Whatever, I'm still a little angry with them so I will just keep this to myself...'

During breakfast nobody says anything. I just keep eating my toast with bacon and eggs. Sometimes I glare at my parents but then look fast outside or at Shadow, who's laying on the ground beside my chair. It's 7:15AM and I can hear Liam upstairs. 'Finally, I can talk with someone who doesn't complain about me right away.' Liam comes running downstairs. "Good morning everyone" he says quite cheerful. "Wow, why are you so happy?" I ask. "Oh it's nothing, just look outside the sun is shining and the birds are singing! That didn't happen in a while..." he saddens a bit.

Yes, he is right. A month or 2 ago there was again a small meteor strike near Portland. I think the birds were so frightened of the strike that they couldn't even sing. "You're right Liam, we should enjoy every day!" "Exactly! That's the spirit Luna!" I laugh at him and even my parents begin to laugh 'Everyone loves Liam, he is always so positive!' "Liam, I wish I could be more like you when it comes to..." Suddenly I feel a searing pain through my whole body. It feels like someone has just stabbed me in my back. I gasp for air and fall from my chair onto the ground. Shadow jumps up and begins to whine. "Please, somebody help... It hurts... So. Much... My parents rush over to me and just as my mum and dad want to lift me up another wave of pain comes over me. "Aah!!! Do something goddamn it, I'm dying!" I scream. I can see Liam and Shadow looking at me in utter horror. My eyes grow wide. "Please Liam go awa-..." Before I'm engulfed in shadows and black out, I can see that mum takes Liam and Shadow upstairs. 'Good. I have to protect them...'
