Chapter 4

We turn and go back to my house, it doesn't take long to get there because we weren't out that far, Midnight and I head up stairs as I rummage through my closest turning my once clean room into a complete mess. I finally found a nice outfit, it's what I wore for the first day of high school. A simple yellow dress with flowers on it. I hold up the outfit. "What ya think?" "Why so formal?" I look at the outfit and say. "What's wrong with it?" "Nothing but your just meeting a boy not the queen of England. " She says with her head in the closet then she drags a outfit out and put it on the bed. "Here, try this. " "Are you sure? " Midnight nodded. "Nixon will love it. " "Fine" I say as I go to my bathroom and put on the outfit. It's a nice lavender lace top, with blue jeans a and denim jacket with lavender sandals to go with it . I pull my golden blonde hair into a fish tail braid going over my left shoulder. I look at myself in the mirror. "Wow, is that me?" It looks like me dark grey eyes and golden blonde hair. "Come dear, lets see what you look like! " Midnight calls. "Coming Midnight " I step out of the bathroom. "You look beautiful darling. " "Thanks" "Now let's go, meet me outside and I'll call Luna. " Luna? I think. "Luna? Who's that? " "Oh, I forgot Luna is Nixon's guardian. " "Wow" She goes out side and howls. "You coming down or are you gonna jump and I catch you?" Midnight asks. "No thanks I'll go down the stairs" Midnight chuckles. As I go down the stairs and meet her in yard. "Ready? " She asks. "As I'll ever be." We go down our normal path to the portal but we stop at the intersection. Something moves, Midnight gets in front of me and gets into a battle stance. "Who goes there? Show your self!" She calls "Kate, stay behind me" The figure emerges from in front of us "Easy, it's me" Midnight perks up "Its ok Kate, it's just Luna. " Luna was pure black with sapphire eyes.she looks back at Luna. "Were's Nixon?" Midnight asks. "Back at the house i'll show you, come" She pauses "oh, I've forgotten to introduce my self, I'm Luna, Nixon's guardian. " I smile. "Nice to meet you, I'm Kate" "Ok now that we're not strangers any more, follow me." We follow Luna for a solid twenty minutes at a steady pace without stopping. Any of us barley talked except for Luna she talked the entire time. "Ah here we go, Nixon's around back by the stables." I pause and look at Midnight. "It's ok go ahead, I'll meet you over their" says Midnight. "Ok" I say nervously. I walk at a steady but slow pace. What am I going to say? I think. I arrive around back and see him standing in a white fence, rubbing the muzzle of a big dark chestnut brown stallion with black mane and tail all saddled up and ready to go, talking softly to it.Nixon is wearing a red and white checkered button up top and blue jeans,his sandy blonde hair parted and combed over to the side. I near him about ten yards behind him the horse makes a soft happy sound and leans his head forward in my direction. The boy turns to look at me. I shyly wave. "Come on neither of us are going to bite you right boy?" He calls as he pats the horse in the neck The horse shakes his head up and down as I near both of them.The boy has a strong British ascent.I am on the other side of the fence "hi" I say. "Hi" he reply's with a smile. "Say hi Jackson" he says to the horse. "The horse whinnies and shows his teeth as if smiling. I giggle and say "hello, Jackson" the boy smiles. "Smart horse" I say. The boy turns to me. "I'm Nixon" " Kate" I say. "You can pet him if you want, I promise he won't bite" "Ok" I say. Nixon walks over to the gate that's to my left, he fiddles with the gate latch then opens it and holds it open for me. "Come on, I don't bite either, I promise" I walk inside. Immediately the horse walks up to me, kneels down and bows. Then gets up and nestles my cheek. "Quite the gentlemen aren't you? " the horse nods. Nixon walks over to me. Midnight and Luna walk up to the fence. "Maybe you should ask Nixon if he would like to come with us to the magic realm" says Midnight. I turn towards Nixon who's staring at me. "Would you like to come, it wouldn't be any trouble, plus I could use the company of my own kind" he looks at Luna. "Go ahead you'll be fine Midnight will look after you" he looks back at me. "Sure" he jumps on Jackson's back then holds out his hand. I look at Midnight. She nods. I cautiously take Nixon's hand as he helps me onto Jackson. Luna holds open the gate while Nixon walks Jackson out. He looks toward Luna. "Luna are you coming?" "i can if you want me to." "If it's ok with Midnight and Kate"  "it's alright" says Midnight.Nixon looks back at me. "Ready?" he asks "If you are" I reply.
