Chapter 25

When Nixon and I get home I take Quill in the bath room for a bath. After I wash and dry him we go into the kitchen and I put down Quill's water and food bowls and fill them both. He eats and sit in a chair. When it's time for bed Nixon goes to his house and I go upstairs with Quill I craw into bed and Quill snuggles up next to me.It doesn't take long for sleep to fill my entire body with pleasant dreams.I awake to the sun shining brightly in the sky, I get up and look at my clock 9:00 A.M. I get up and go into my living room to find Nixon on the couch with Quill. I sit next to them Quill in the middle. Quill has his collar on, and Nixon has on a white button up shirt underneath a dark green sweater, a pair on nice blue jeans and new sneakers. "Hello Kate." Quill says. "Hey Kate, when you get dressed...there's something we need to do later." Nixon says. "What is it?" I ask. "You'll find out." I get up off the couch and go to my room to get dressed. I put on a white lace top, blue jeans,and my brown,ankle high leather boots. I go to the bathroom to brush my hair. I take a section of my hair on the right, braid it and pin it to the left side, next I I take a piece of hair on the left side just under where I pined the other braid and braid that piece. Then finally I I take the rest of my hair, pull it to the left side and braid it as far down as I could get it, I secure it with three clear rubber bands, then I step back to take a look in the mirror. I decide to put on a tiny bit of make up not much just a little bit of light blue eye shadow,then white on top, a thin layer of mascara, and a thin line of eyeliner on top and bottom. I step back and look. "Not bad." I say. Then I go meet Nixon and Quill at the door. Nixon glances at me then looks again. "You look  beautiful Kate." Quill says. I pick him up and cuddle him. "Why thank you little one." I say. I set him down and go get his leash from the back door. I can feel Nixon's eyes so carefully watching every move I make. I carefully put Quill's leash on him then look up at Nixon who hasn't taken his eyes off me. "Ready to go?" I ask. "Yeah." Still staring. "Anything wrong?" I ask. "You look,wow." He says. I kiss his cheek and walk out the door with Quill, I stop at the end of the drive way. Nixon hasn't moved. "You coming?" I call. "Yeah. Umm. Yeah." He says as he comes out the door and meets me with Quill. We start walking. "Were are we going Kate?" Quill asks me. "I don't know you'll have to ask Nixon. " I say. "Were are we going Nixon?" Quill asks. I giggle. "Well we are going some were Kate and I used to know, I have a surprise for her, remember Quill?" He says. "Oh, yeah I think Kate's gonna like it." The pup says. Hmm, wonder what it is. And why is Nixon acting so...different? I think to my self. And were are we going? There's only two places I can think of, Nixon's house were we first met, or the magic realm. We continue walking and we turn to the old path to my old house. We stop in front of it. Destroyed. Completely destroyed and gone.Why would Nixon bring me here? I turn around to see Nixon. "Why we'd stop here?" I ask. "Just thought you'd want to take a walk down memory lane. I kinda wanted to see these things again and take Quill to see theses places and a couple others." He says. "Yeah. Ok" I say as I walk over to him. "Were to next?" I ask. "Well, I was thinking that we could visit where Midnight was laid to rest and there's one other but that's a surprise." He says. I am chocked up by my words. "Ok." I say. We walk hand in hand but I stop and so dose Nixon and Quill. I bend down to Quill. "Are you getting tired?" I ask the pup. "Kind of." He says. "Hold on, I've go a idea." I say I hold my hands out, close my eyes and try to create a small stroller for Quill but Nixon stands in front of me and pushes my hands down. "What are you crazy? There could be people around and what if they see you?" He asks. "Who is going to be this far out in the woods?" I say and try again. I create a small stroller for Quill to ride in. I walk over to Quill, pick him up and put him in the stroller. "There how's that?" I ask him. "Perfect, thank you Kate." He says. I start to push the stroller with Nixon to my right. "Good job." He says. "Thanks. You need some practice, how about we do that after our walk?" I ask. "Sounds good." He says. "Portal first." I say. "Yeah. I know." He says gently as he squeezes my hand slightly. We enter the magic realm and we let Quill explore a little while I give Nixon a quick magic lesson. I call Quill back and he comes I put him in the stroller and we walk to the castle were I ask Chaney to watch Quill for a little while. "Were are you and Nixon going Kate?" Quill asks. "Just around the corner, I promise we will be right back ok." I say. I thank Chaney once more and Nixon and I go to Midnight's resting place. On the way there I stop to pick some wild flowers to put on her grave. We reach her grave Nixon and I thank her for everything she's done for us and we promised to watch over Quill with all our hearts then we laid the bouquet of flowers gently on the grave. I step back with Nixon, tears flood my eyes and stream down my cheeks in steady paths to the ground.
